SoCal Shaun of the dead DVD signing friday/saturday

Well just wanted to give those L.A. dvdtalkers a heads up that there will be two shaun of the dead signings this weekend with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost.

There was one tonight at the virgin megastore on sunset. Pictures below. But there will also be another on friday at 7:00 at the Barns and Nobles at the Grove and on Saturday there will be a signing at the boarders in WestWood.

1/7/05 at Barnes & Noble – The Grove. Los Angeles, CA.
1/8/05 7:00 PM at Borders Books – Westwood Blvd. Los Angeles, CA.

They had free posters they were signing. Decided to leave this little message.

So if you are in the SoCal area. It's well worth it. they are really cool guys to talk to. The crowd wasn't bad at all and I'm sure the rain this weekend will keep a lot of folks at home so it shouldn't be bad at all. You didn't have to buy the dvd at the store either so it was just autographs and easily ask them anything.

sorry if this is a lame question, but were either of them surprised that you had Region 2 stuff for them to sign?

I'm sure tons of people had region 2 stuff to be signed. I'd say this film prompted quite a few people to get multiregion players - also, the filmmakers already had a large cult following here anyway over Spaced and, to a lesser extent, Big Train.

In my case, I will no longer mention whose work I like and who I'd like to meet, because the next day Jackskeleton will be bragging about how he's met them already.

Hey, I'm also trying to spread the word on who will be signing what and where. A lot of folks in line didn't know which site it was from because of the sleeve. But there were plenty of folks with SPACED and Simon did mention that it was the R2 of both. But wasn't to surprised about it since he's been saying that SPACED will never be for sale here in the states.

Damn, wished I could go up there but the coming storm wouldn't make that much fun of a commute.

Good job, Jack

I wish they'd have things like this on the East Coast. That looks sweet. If anyone is going, and would pick up a signed poster for me, I'll gladly pay you for the effort. Please, please let me know.

I saw Simon Pegg on Jimmy Kimmel a couple of nights ago and he mentioned that many people have told him that they went region-free to be able to get Spaced which won't be available here because of the music rights.

What do you get on the region 2 DVD that you don't with the USA release?

There are a few extra commentary tracks, and a second video diary.

(Also, a lot of people ordered the R2 because it was available on DVD before it was out in theaters here.)

....... words fail me right now. How can you still be alive if I actually knew you in person?

Besides, I don't know anyone in person who is married or has a girlfriend who looks like Portman

Wow, that is really rad. I usually couldn't care less about celebrity signings, but I would've definitely gone out for this. I wonder if they will come to the east coast.

Event at Borders was cancelled. They left a big note saying because of "unforseen circumstances" they had to return to England. Sucks! Fortunately, I only live a few blocks from that Borders...I would have been pissed if I had travelled far in this wonderful LA downpour.

Apparently there were free posters to be had, but I didn't see any. I wonder if they pre-signed them?
