Troy selling like hotcakes!

My local SuperTarget sold out of all widescreen copies and we only had 2 fullscreen copies left. Crazy, looks like this will be a popular DVD.

I believe observing that opinion on one local b&m is a little bemusing.

This definitely is not a widespread problem. I went to three stores, all of which were next to one another (FYE, BJs and BB) and all had plenty of copies of both versions. The prices were 20, 19 and 16, respectively. I gotta feel bad for anyone would buy it for 20 when the next store has it for 16 + bonus disc.

Don't feel too bad if you didn't get the Bestbuy bonus disc like me. I heard it's crap anyway not even a menu. BTW the insert was horrible mine went right into the paper shredder.

Hotcakes, huh?

Nothing like a reasoned, scientific study to give us the facts!

Just because your local store has sold all of their copies of the movie, it doesn't mean that is a huge seller.

Now if you post a link of an article in one of the entertainment sites indicating the actual number of copies it sold nationwide, then you might have a point.

The first day totals should be released in the next day or so. Troy seems to be selling well online:

#1 at DVD Planet

#3 on Columbia House's top 100

#5 on Amazon's best selling DVDs

Easy to sell out if they only had less than 10 on hand.

same here. At the Chelsea NYC Best Buy, they had tons of them. They had them in the 4-sided Troy display, on the new release wall, and in the action section. They even had a lot with the bonus disc.

The Target near me were almost sold out of full screen copies by the time I got there around 11am. Is this movie any good? worth a rent?

I wondered this same thing. "Selling like hotcakes". When was the last time you saw a run on hotcakes? Denny's having a sale? Aunt Jemima pass away? What's with those damn hotcakes?

I wonder how Brad Pitt would appreciate his selling power likened to the popularity of a fried blob of breakfast dough.

I'm also wondering the same. I picked up the bonus disc version yesterday in case it sold out. Now given the crappiness of the bonus disc, I may just return it. A lot of mixed reviews about the movie. It's marginally rotten at rottentomatoes. I may just rent it instead.

I was disappointed with the movie. Not to say that it was a bad movie, but I was expecting a lot more from the all-star cast and Wolfgang Petersen.

The only good actors were Eric Bana as Hector, Sean Bean as Odysseus, and the old man (Hector & Paris's father).

Brad Pitt tried so hard but it wasn't a role that was for him. He's just not a classical actor. He only looked the part cuz he got jacked for the movie and cuz of his pretty boy looks.

The movie was changed around from the books. There was very little reliance on the Gods.

Overall, I gave the movie 2 stars but it's a movie that you need to see at least once just for it's sheer epicness.

I also bought it for the bonus disc at Best Buy but I may just return it and wait 3 months to get it from CH.

My BB was selling Troy at a fast rate,my BB also never sells out of any blockbuster just released, they just buy so many knowing there going to sell them so it's hard to tell how many they have sold.

Another reason why H&K has sold so well at BB is because of the 2 for 20 deal they have going,I got H&K and C&C:Nice Dream's for 20 bucks,IMO it was a steal for me since I enjoy just about every comedy that's rated R,I know its a bit corny but Doogy Houser make's the movie worth 10 bucks.
