The State -- One of My most Anticipated TV on DVD Sets...But When? (tvshowsondvd.com)

Other than this tidbit from tvshowsondvd.com this past May, there hasn't been any info.:

State, The - The State is coming

Thanks to Erica for passing this information on to us. Here's an email she received from "The State" guys.
THE STATE's MTV series is finally coming to DVD!

The members of The State are working closely with MTV home video to create the ultimate DVD set of The State episodes, including extra documentary, commentary, unaired sketches, etc.

There is no release date yet, but of course we'll let you know as soon as we know anything...

So save your money and stop buying bootlegs!

Is there anyone else out there that's anxiously awaiting it's release?

"**update 8/1/04: Apparently there have been some regime changes and more unexpected legal delays, but MTV tells us the project is still alive and they want to release the DVD in the next six months. As always as soon as they tell us something, we'll tell you."

I am. I would love to own both this show and Comedy Central's Exit 57. Does anyone remember that show?

Exit 57 is surely a must for all fans of Strangers With Candy...but it seems to be completely forgotten and ignored

I remember exit 57 - but I often merge it with upright citizen's brigade for some reason.

well it's good to know i wasn't the only person who watched the show, lol. although I would expect people to lump it together with Stangers With Candy (as it had the same main cast) before UCB.

I am on the State/Stell/Wet Hot American Summer mailing list just for the sole purpose of getting news on the (hopefully) eventual DVD release. They haven't said much about it at all in their mailings lately. Hopefully the new year will bring some good news.

I am also holding out for the State and hopefully Exit 57. I love the Jesus Stole My Girlfriend skit. Actually I am holding out for most sketch comedy shows. I would also love a Vacant Lot set and Almost Live set.

I can't wait to hear some news on this as well. I really enjoyed the State, and keep checking back every once in while to see if there is any new info on the dvd release.

I just got some news in my mailbox from the STELLA newsletter that STELLA will be a TV show on Comedy Central:

STELLA, the TV series, has been picked up for ten episodes on Comedy
Central. Michael Ian Black, Michael Showalter & David Wain will write,

star and exec produce the scripted half-hour comedy. Slated for a
summer premiere!
Maybe this will help push MTV to release the State DVDs.

Of course, Reno 911's success hasn't helped push them...

Awesome news about Stella -- although I know nothing about it. It's a comedy troop? All I know is that I loved The State, and I loved Wet Hot American Summer (which had all 3 of those guys in the movie, I believe) and I really find Michael Ian Black to be freakin' hilarious in all of those VH1 Remember the 80's/90's programs. (And in Celebrity Poker).

Thanks for the news.
