Shaw bros...
This is such a newbie question, but who the hell are they? People always talk about them, and I know they make martial arts movies or something, but they're not on IMDb, and when someone posts a link to one of their movies on IMDb, their names aren't on the credits...
Thanks
Thanks

Shaw Brothers - a major Hong Kong studio - think Warner Brothers - they made movies in every conceivable genre, from romantic comedy to costume drama to teen comedies to thrillers etc. For many years, most of the Asian films that were introduced to the west were martial arts movies, so that's why many people think that Shaw Brothers movies were simply that.

Here is an old link for CDWOW that provides $1 off per dvd that still works even though it says it's expired.

Worldpay sometimes does not transmit the notification of payment back to CDWOW and you have to follow-up wih an e-mail, but otherwise it works pretty well. They also have free shipping.

There's a thread in the International Forum about some of the titles showing up in the "weekly specials" section at dddhouse - with shipping, it's about USD8.00 per title.

Crippled Avengers (Venoms flick directed by Chang Cheh - Venom films tend to be popular)
Legendary Weapons of China (Lau Kar Leung)
The 36th Chamber of Shaolin (Good training sequences and satrs Gordon Liu)
Clans of Intrigue (Dir. by Chor Yuen - produced many fantasy and wuxia films)
Come Drink With Me (Classic old school "60's" that launched the shift to kung fu movies from Opera and stars Cheng Pei-pei - it was an early release so it's not anamorphic)
Other good films, but there are many more:
Most Venom films
Sword Stained With Royal Blood
The Eight Diagram Pole Fighter
New Tales Of The Flying Fox
Holy Flame Of The Martial World (one kinetic wacked out movie but fun)
One-Armed Swordsman Trilogy: Box Set
Rare Gems:
The Casino
The Vengeful Beauty (not really kung fu, but I dug it)
