Where are the Godfather 2 and 3 single discs? (May 24th)
I thought the Godfather 2 and 3 sigle discs were supossed to be out already. Anyone know why they didn't release them yet?

Unfortunately(or fortunately, considering it keeps the transfer at as high a bit rate as possible) Godfather 2 is still on 2 discs. The only extra on it and the Godfather are the commentary, haven't bothered with Part 3

Apocalypse Now Redux is 202 minutes (imdb) just two minutes longer than GF Pt. II but it was still managed to fit on 1 disc with reasonable video quality and active 5.1 DD. Was this due to advanced technology or budget in '79 compared to GF Pt. II's 74 production?

You really don't need a high bitrate on GF 2, because most of the scenes are mostly with people standing still or sitting down and talking. A person could easily put GF2 on one disc, as a dual layer. Of course, since most scenes are blackened or dark (due to the nature of the movie) a high bitrate might necessary so you don't see the compression artifacts inherent in DVD compression.
Btw, I'd like to know the size of the GF2 disc 1 and 2 and see just how "high quality" these really are.

As long as this set has been out now and as nice a set as the GF Collection is I'm suprised the people that want I and II haven't just bitten the bullet and picked it up, ala' The Alien Quadrilogy.

from the digital bits rumor mill 2.10.05
Paramount will also release The Godfather, Part II and The Godfather, Part III as stand-alone titles in May. We're waiting to see if these contain any new features (other than those that were previously included in The Godfather DVD Collection box set).

glad to see these made it to shelves this time around. Savant had a review up for 2, and I am glad they kept it a two disc set. Just wish they would rebox with the keep cases...i want that bonus disc....
also any chance the box set will be getting a drop soon

I purchased the single DVDs of: The Godfather II & III yesterday at Best Buy. They were officially released this Tuesday. If any other merchants did not have them in stock, then It must be for some other reason. I've got mine

I picked up the single disc releases of The Godfather I and II because I didn't want Part III and the commentaries are carried over. What are the extra features from the fourth disc of the boxset and are they worthwhile?
