Midnite Movies Double Features

The situation over these is very confusing. As I understood it some - but maybe not all - of these from MGM became exclusive to Best Buy. However, they were also made available to "some Canadian online stores". Weirdly, Best Buy's own website doesn't list most of them! Does anyone know:

Which ones were made "exclusives" and which ones were still generally available?

Can I still get them from - for example - DVDSoon, who still list them? I ordered one (the Phibes double) and it's sat on order for quite a while (nothing unusual in that DVDSoon never seem to hold stock of anything!)?

It would seem a bit odd that they would not be available as they were only released on August 24th of this year.

I know one place that has stock, but they're almost twice as expensive as DVDSoon. I don't mind ordering and waiting, but don't want to find that they can't get hold of them after eight weeks, while "another place" sells their last copies!

I realise that many of the single titles that wer eused to make up the doubles are generally available.
Way to go MGM for confusing everything and minimising your sales.

I was able to find these (most of them) in B&M stores. The only one I had trouble getting was the Count Yorga double set, and I ended up ordering that one from DVDSoon and eventually got it (after 4 or 5 weeks - you know, typical DVDSoon time)

Whenabouts was this?

The DVDSoon prices on them are very good. But boy the time they take to supply stuff! I had to wait two WEEKS for something they had "IN Stock" to ship out (yep it sat "ON Order" for most of that).

As I'm in the UK I can't go to a store and get them. :-(

I know Deranged & Motel Hell Double feature is $9.99 at my local Suncoast & Sam Goody. So is another one Something Hotel Massacre & something else is $5.99 at the same stores. I have yet to see these anywhere else besides for $14.99 at Best Buy,and the ones mentioned. I have however only seen others at Best Buy ONLY. I would like to know this as well. I own the MH/D one.

Issued in August 2004, right? And also made available to "some" Canadian online stores, notably DVDsoon (hah, if ever there was a store with a misleading name, it's that lot. DVD-after-four-or-five-weeks-if-you're-lucky, more like...their info is also hilariously inaccurate. Apparently the Midnite Movies have been issued variously by Orion, Image, A&E and Universal!)

Also worth noting that Best Buy don't list the "exclusives" on their website, were they instore only? If so, MGM really don't want these to sell, do they?

Also, are Masque of the Red Death/Premature Burial and Comedy of Terrors/The Raven OOP or not? Conflicting info out there.

Did anyone get the Incredible two-headed transplant one? I have a cheapo version of it and the quality is AWFUL, and I'm wondering if this version in the two pack is better. Also, mine is full screen...UGH.

I have it. It is beautiful! Can you say that about this movie? Okay, I will! It's Beautiful! It is also presented in its original 1.85:1 aspect ratio with anamorphic enhancement.

But you be the judge:

Now which ones are out of print? I know the first and second batches are, or some of them at least. I can't believe that the ones released August 2004 are OOP already.

I think some folks are thinking that because - being exlusive to Best Buy (and DVDSoon incidentally) most sites don't list them.

Thanks. It's worth mentioning that the former "Best Buy exclusives" can now be purchased elsewhere.

I think 32, 34, 35 were actually released on 6/7. I picked them up during the DDD sale.

Hmmm, that helpful update reminds me of all the single releases I don't have. In fact, I only have Killer Klowns, one of their most excellent releases. I always wonder if I should start hunting the rest of those down, or if I should suspect a double release sometime soon. I especially want Reptilicus and Frogs, but I can easily see them on a disc together, so....what to do?

I'd say, given the crazy way the last series of titles were released, whether the "Midnite Movies" line will even survive is in question.

I agree. Also, I think Reptilicus might be OOP now, but I'm not sure about Frogs. Last time I checked, amazon.com listed Reptilicus as unavailable. I'd say if you can find them, maybe you should go ahead and pick them up.

I have yet to see a Wal-Mart dump bin that didn't have at least half a dozen copies of FROGS. Look no further.

Hmmm, maybe I will start trying to pick up the ones I can find, just in case. I would hate to not have them at all, and it seems like you can get them kind of cheap.

I don't think "Frogs" was part of the "Midnite Movies" collection. At least the copy that I have doesn't say "Midnite Movies" anywhere on it, nor does the one available on Amazon.

I think it is, despite the lack of a banner. It is listed at the MGM Midnite Movies site.
