DirecTivo $49 from DirecTV
Posted this in Hot Deals, thought I'd post it here as well for the TV folk.
I just called to order one expecting to pay $99, and was surprised to find out that they're currently only $49. You also have to pay the shipping/handling fee of $14.95 plus tax and the $4.99 monthly fee obviously.
Installation is free, which is handy if like me you need them to run a second line from your dish to the box to allow taping two channels at once, or taping one and watching something else.
I also lucked out and am getting it installed tomorrow morning.

As for how many hours, I think it should be 40.

I'd imagine it's only the 40 hour one. I think the 80 hour one has a MIR, but all the ones that are 40 hour are the ones selling for $100 or under in stores.

There is only one current model of DirecTiVo, the R10. It is made by RCA and has an 80 gig drive (70 hours max). It sells for $99 to existing customers or much less than that to new subscribers.

35 hours.
I had a Tivo back when they first came out. I won it in a contest. I had it for about a year, then the modem got fried and they wanted too much to fix it.
It doesn't change my viewing habits too much. I just rarely watched anything live so I could skip commercials. The only way it made me watch more shows, is being able to catch two things at once (watch one tape one). This will be evenmoresoe now that I can tape two things at the same time.

Got it installed this morning, got the 35 hour Hughes unit.
Installer had some bad luck. His drill bit broke when drilling for the second line and went flying across the room, luckily it didn't hit anyone or anything. On top of that, the dry wall as apparently bad there, and it crumbled and left a good 6 inch whole (the mainly just a chunck fell off). So he had to run to Home Depot and get some plaster, and we got it fixed up. He offered to come back and sand it, but I told the poor guy I could handle that.
