newby with a few questions

hi everyone!

this site was a great find, its a dvd collectors dream! i have a few questions though :-)

1) after reading how good it was, i got dvd profiler but now i have two problems. a) i have a region 2 copy of 8 mile (im from the uk), the details has the wrong director on it, not curtis hanson but someone called brain gibson. i'm very new to dvd profiler and i have no idea how to put this straight. b) i dont have a credit card or any means of payment, being a unemployed student not old enough to work yet. does anyone have like a 'universal' key that can be used??

2) is it possible someone out there would be kind enough to submit pics of any of the following covers (inside and out) matrix ultimate collection and the buffy collection?!?! im interested in buying them, just need to get a nice good look ;-)

3) dvd profiler is 'alright' i was more impressed by dvdspot because it lets the user give a few more details about him/herself such as their favourtie directors etc AND the layout is better, the pics are better but that doesnt have a database with region 2 dvds. can someone point me to something like dvdspot that does store region 2 dvd details???

so... its great to be a part of this place now. superb! i'll be seeing you guys!

I don't have answers to your questions, but I love DVD Profiler, never had a problem with anything.

What I actually wanted to say, is that with this forum, you don't really need to sit in front of your computer and keep hitting refresh in the hopes that somebody will quickly answer you. Be patient, wait a couple of days, and then come back and search for your thread (search by username in the advanced search options). Then politely thank people for answering you.

Welcome to the site!

You can edit the information in DVD Profiler and lock it so it doesn't get overwritten. No one is going to give you a code to register the software-sorry.

Check the online retailers such as Amazon for pics of the box sets. Here's a pic of the Matrix set with the bust that I think looks more like Lou Reed than Keanu Reeves:

First off welcome to DVDtalk

Second, regarding this part of the request, we have very specific rules forbidding this sort of activity/request
http://www.dvdtalk.com/legal.html
ABSOLUTELY NO:
• Anything aimed at defrauding or taking advantage of another company, exploiting flaws or weaknesses in their systems or sites
Hopefully that won't dissuade you from hanging around though

You may want to consider passing your inquiries off in the tech section over at the DVDProfiler forums. They do have a forum similar to DVDTalk too ....

Simply create a profile for it. Start by entering the UPC code for the set just to be sure it isn't already in there, then edit the information such as the SRP (not what you paid, but the retail or list price-check an online retailer for this info), audio formats, etc.

Then DVD Profiler will ask you if you want to submit the information to the database. The first time you do this, they will give you some information and make you take a little quiz on it. Don't worry if you get some answers wrong-they will let you know and you can check the right ones. They just do this to make sure you know how to enter the information correctly-i.e.: nothing misspelled, the titles are entered properly, everything is in the right place.
