I've got an original "Wizards" one-sheet poster and one from the 1979 Bakshi "Lord of the Rings". They are both folded up in a box somewhere. I should dig those out and sell them before they completely disintegrate. I got them both from the theater that was showing them.

I've also gotten a "Seinfeldisms" Poster with the purchase of Seinfeld.

I have to many. The main disadvantage is that 99% of them are in tubes.

Where to get them? Since I'm close to the studio, I get in house posters from the promotions department and I have a few different poster venders I trade extra's with from other studios.

seems like more movie talk material for this thread, if you ask me. Unless it comes with inserts.

I would like to begin purchasing some movie posters and have a quick question:

What is the "correct" size for movie posters. For example, The Shawshank Redemption poster I've found is 26 x 36? Is the same as what the original theatrical poster would have been?

Thanks.

I have the last two of the posters above (I love the poses of the actors on the posters and I like how they are placed along side all of the numerous accolades the wonderful film received.) I am going to be getting the rest (except for the "Kelly" one) soon, but I am trying to find reasonable prices. Reprints are fine with me. I got the last two for like $5 total off Ebay and they look great framed on my wall side by side.

I am sort of upset though, as Murray has a different pose on the first poster on the bottom, but the other Johansson poster with the accolades shows the same pose with LOST IN TRANSLATION at the top of the poster instead of the bottom (which is not pictured in the six)

--------

I love this poster and might get it one day:

but I just have the one with full body shot of Bridges and Goodman (holding a gun) in front of bowling lanes.

--------

I also want this poster, but can't seem to find it anywhere for a reasonable price:

all I can find cheap is this one, which I do not like as much:

--------

Since I don't have a lot of space in my room and I live at home (college student) I don't buy too many posters unless I find this for extremely great prices.

Damn, I can't do right today. had to edit five times!.

I believe most theatrical posters are 27 x 40 in.

If you buy any on ebay, be sure to get insurance or at least get the seller to ship the poster in 2 shipping tubes. I've received several posters that were damaged to hell by Fedex or USPS

Bastards!!!!!

Hey Jack!!!! Want to sell any of your posters???

US theatrical posters these days measure 27x40. Before the mid-80s they were 27x41 and usually folded. I'd stay clear of reprints, since they tend to have lower printing and paper quality than the originals that hung in theaters. ebay is a great place to find some amazing deals on originals. i have too many posters to list, but here are some of the gems. these are all theatrical originals:

Nightmare Before Christmas double sided
Evil Dead
Evil Dead II
Barry Lyndon
Pulp Fiction
Reservoir Dogs
Jackie Brown advance 6 poster set
Spirited Away double sided
Night of the Living Dead
Se7en double sided
Terminator
Ghostbusters
The Jerk
Spider-man recalled wtc advance
Labyrinth
Dark Crystal

I've got many from the late mid-late '90s (worked at a movie theater back then). The Usual Suspects, Star Wars Trilogy, Bound, Pulp Fiction, The Shawshank Redemption, Forrest Gump and The English Patient to name a few.

I constantly rotate the posters I have up in my place, all framed & all original one-sheets. I will never put up a re-production, I've very picky w/ my posters.

There are only 2 posters that I have always kept up & have had them for years. my Big Trouble in Little China original Drew Struzan poster signed by Kurt Russel & Struzen & my The Last Dragon original one-sheet.

I'm lucky to have a friend who manages a movie theater so whenever he gets something good in he lets me know. My foreign posters I get from a dealer in the city.

Right now I have these up

Original Italian one-sheet, I have this custom framed:
