Beautiful Boxer (Thai film)

I read some very good reviews about that film, essentially the true story of a young man who tries to become Muaythai champion so he can raise enough money to get a sex change operation!

Here's a review:

The He fights like a man so he can become a woman tagline cracked me up. I guess it's better than "He fights like a girl so he can become one".

Please note that this is a Region 3 DVD, and appears to be the only one released so far.

It's also available at all the regular HK sites, including LAYOYO where it is approx. $11.19 -

as for the film, which I saw at DC's Reel Affirmation Film Festival last month - I was very impressed. Great acting from lead Asanee Suwan (some of his/her costumes at the end got a tad too garish IMO). Beautiful cinematography. Brutal fight scenes that at the screening I saw it at, the audience was wincing and cheering along. Quite a unique film that is worth checking out.

Caught this one during the Vancouver Film Festival and I must say this film is one of the most entertaining movies of the year and was suprisingly absorbing and moving.

I decided to order it... only 12$ at cd-wow, not much for a 2 disc.

Just received this from layoyo - absolutely terrific film with an amazing performance by the lead actor.

Nice surprise - the 2nd disc has about an hour of excellent extras (behind the scenes, interviews, meet the real life person whose story this is) and anything that is not in English has English subtitles.

Good to hear about the subbed extras. I've received mine but haven't had a chance to watch it yet.
