Playstation 2 live - any good FAQ somewhere?

Don't mean to ask questions that have been asked several times, but my search didn't turn up much.

Trying to get my Playstation 2 connected to the net for online play, and trying to figure out what is required.

I know I need the online kit, but what else? Is there a subscription service?

Also, I'm running a wireless network here at home, and can't run a hard cable to the PS2. Does wireless work? And what would I need to do that?

Thanks in advance

Some game have a monthly fee and some are free. As for your wireless question, mine is hooked up to a wireless bridge so you can go a similar route.

If you have the older PS2, you need the Network Adapter. If you have the slim PS2, it has one built in. Only a handful of games require subscriptions (FFXI, Everquest) and the rest are free. You can use wireless just fine (I am switching to wireless when the ordered router and bridge come in.

Pardon the ignorance... what's a bridge?

Do I need a specific kind of adapter for PS2? Or is there just some Linksys (or whatever) standard one which will work with a PS2?

And yes, I have an older PS2, so I knew that I needed an adapter. I think I recall seeing it for like $39 or something.

If you have a wireless router, you can buy a wireless game adapter or bridge. This keeps you from running a cat5 cable from the router to your ps2.

Are there specific "game" adapters? As opposed to the ones I use to network my other computers through the USB port?

You just need something to take that wireless signal and transfer it to a cable so you can plug it into the Network Adapter.
