DeepDiscountDVD *may not have* dobule billed me on Pee Wee's

I ordered the Pee Wee's Playhouse Volume 1 and 2 double deal from Deep Discount DVD (now that's illiteration!) last week and got a shipping notice today.

Unfortunately it seems that they charged me the 2 pack price twice.

Here's the line from the original order confirmation:
---
Order Date: 11/17/04 Payment Method: Credit Card

Item Description Quantity Price
------------- ---------------------------------------- -------- --------
DDDVD001092D PEE WEE'S PLAYHOUSE 1 & 2 1 $52.78

------------- ---------------------------------------- -------- --------

Tax: $0.00
Shipping Price: $0.00
Order Total: $52.78
---

And Here's the line from the shipping alert email I got today:

---
Quantity Item # Description Price
-------- ------------ ---------------------------------------- ----------
1 DVD001092 DVD : PEE WEE'S PLAYHOUSE V.01 $ 52.78
1 DVD001092 DVD : PEE WEE'S PLAYHOUSE V.02 $ 52.78

Merchandise Total: $ 105.56
Tax: $ .00
Shipping & Handling: $ .00
Total for Shipped Items: $ 105.56
---

I emailed [email protected] but I'm sure they won't get back to me until at least Monday.

Check your emails carefully.

-Tom

It's for reasons like you post that when I order online anymore, I ONLY use one-time use credit cards that can be made with certain credit card companies. Limits can be placed on them and if merchants attempt to charge more for your purchase, or unauthorized users somehow gain access to your number they cannot get the charge to go through.

Usually if you set the limit a little higher to cover tax and such once a pre-authorization is put through from a company if the charge does not post immediately and the pre-auth falls off the number has been "branded" to only work with charges then coming from that same merchant. If a person tried to use that same number, with now the full credit once again available since the pre-auth fell off, it would be declined.

It's something to look into if you order online a lot. From reading different sources online I know that Discover Card, MBNA cards and I believe American Express offer the service.

I got an email from them tonight (Sunday, after 11p.m_ that says:
----
Thank you for contacting DeepDiscountDVD.com!
We are sorry for the discrepancy in the email sent to you about the order # 23114852. As per our records, we have
only charged you a total of $ 52.78.

I guess I'll check with my bank this week and double check. It may have been a wonky email notification.

I, too, got double-billed (at least according to their e-mail) for the two Pee Wee sets. E-mailed them today about the problem and waiting for a response back.

I once ordered one dvd and in the confirmation email they added another different dvd that I never even looked at on their site. I have no idea how it got added on but after an email they said it wasn't their fault but that they would take it off my order.

Their email is wrong; I had the same thing happen to me (although I didn't notice it until I got part of the order yesterday). They are shipping the two parts of the set separately; each volume shows the full price in the email, but only half the price (26.39) on the actual included with the DVD. I have got part 2, and figure part 1 will be here shortly.
