Pee-Wee's Playhouse SE's in the Works
I looked for another thread but couldn't find one discussing this.
Since a lot of people ordering the Pee-Wee's Playhouse DVD sets in the DDD sale, I thought this is worth mentioning.
Paul Reubens was a guest on Letterman last week to promote the DVDs. Dave asked him what features were on it, and he said "None," and that they were what's considered the "bare bones" versions. Then he said that they were currently working on a super duper deluxe set which would be out sometime next year, and he might have mentioned recording commentary.
Dave pointed out that this was unfair -- why should people spend money for something once only for an even better version to come out in the near future -- and Reubens agreed and said that as a collector he dislikes the practice as well. He said that since he would be the one out promoting the disks himself, we was in the position to let people know so they wouldn't feel ripped off later.
Then Dave asked him if that doesn't hurt any profit he might make from the ones on sale now, and he said that people should buy these now to enjoy anyway, because they still contain the original uncut, unedited episodes, and who's to say for sure if the Special Edition set won't be limited to only 5 copies and cost $1,000 each.
So there you go. Fans of the show might want to hold off if they can be patient.
