Enterprise 11/12/04

Episode Title: "The Augments"

Spoiler:
After turning on their creator the Augments try to start a war between Humans and Klingons.

w: Mike Sussman d: LeVar Burton

Hopefully, this turns out as action-packed as it sounds.

I'm shocked that

Spoiler:
they turn on their creator

I mean gee, none of us predicted that in last week's thread!

If you're serious, he's apparently playing the director.

How many Enterprise espisodes has he directed?

This should be fun. I can't believe that I'm eagerly anticipating a new Trek episode!

There is something tragically wrong here. Now I know what Bizarro World must be like.

eh. the transporter is becoming a bit too advanced for this time period. catching someone like that is something they rarely risk in the TNG era
wonder if that's the same briar patch form Insurection?

Three good episodes in a row, and next week's looks interesting as well. I'm not sure my heart can stand this.

Boo. Nothing against the episode...I was just hoping my brother would have more scenes. He was in the last three episodes. Last week he got shot by scott bakula. He played an Augment that looks very similar to the main Augment in the series.

Honestly...I've never really watched Star Trek. The plot line in this series seems kind of cool though. I'll give it a few more weeks.

You've never watched Star Trek, and you're starting with Enterprise? Oh dear.

actually, with no preconceived notions of continuity Enterprise isn't a bad start, especially now that it looks like they're back on the right track

Yeah, a buddy of mine said the same thing...but then quickly recanted with the same response. I mean, it is before all the movies and previous series right?

enterprise: 2150's, I think they said May 2153 today
tos 2260's
tos movies: late 2270's-early 2290's or so
tng/ds9/voy went into the 2370's

Not a bad ending to the trilogy. Brent Spiner's character got some of the snarkiness back that he lost in the second episode. The Vulcan trilogy starts next week and I'm kinda anticipating that. I think the new staff deserves medals for starting to turn this series around.

Ok, I'm forgetting some of my TNG back history here.
Is Brent Spiner's character in this show the man who goes on to ultimately invent Data (and his evil brother)?

Is that what the end was supposed to be about?

Good trilogy. The Enterprise keeps getting pretty lucky in battles though.

Who was the blonde hottie on the bridge who had a few token lines?

spiner's character is the grand-father or the great grandfather of the inventor of data.

kudos to the wroters for finally allowing the enterprise to win a space battle

She's already more interesting than Hoshi and Merriweather.

I'm still in shock from the change, but if I'm reading these new emotions correctly, I believe I really liked this ep. It's nice to see characters surviving without technobabble again. Archer creatively gets off the station (even if the transporters probably shouldn't be that good yet), then they get past the first Klingons on their wits, and they get past the second Klingons with a nice grappling hook maneuver. It was a little overly self-referencial, especially at the end with the cybornetics stuff, but I can let all that slide in favor of episodes that don't suck.

The scene where the bluff the first Klingon ship was somewhat fake, but other than that it was a great ep.

Spoiler:
And at least when the Augments went against Soong, it was for a reason - Soong refusing to approve mass murder, and Soong's adjustment of the embryo's DNA to remove hostility and aggression. I took this as Soong trying to improve the new Augments, making the old Augments feel less than perfect, and eventually second class citizens in whatever new society they create. That really brought home the problem with DNA augmentation in that time.

I am really finding myself enjoying this newly revamped Enterprise.

Why oh why did it take so long to start realizing the potential of this series?

I am looking forward to the next trilogy.
