New PStwo reliability.....?
I had the original PS2 and it crapped out on me after just 10 months... i was wondering if anyone has heard if the new version is more dependable, or if anyone has any reviews or impressions on it... thanks

Well, people do say that it runs pretty hot. I think it's still too early to tell whether or not it's reliable, since it just came out. Still, Sony's track record isn't promising, and I'm waiting a while to replace my old one (how was the PSOne, quality wise? Anyone know?)

I would put more faith on the latest version of the old model than the new PStwo. Let someone else find the bugs and problems....
....on a related note, I had an original PS2 that crapped out and a couple weeks later, my house was broken into. They stole it so my insurance replaced it with a new one. The perks of living in the "cheap" part of town.

I've had my PS1 for 7 years and it still runs fine. I've played the hell out of that console too. My Ps2, I've had since 2001, but I haven't played that much at all. I've only completed 3 games on it, but so far no problems.

I don't really think the heat will be such a big issue, most PCs run way hotter and some people leave them on for weeks at a time.
The build quality of the PSOne is excellent, it's sturdy and reliable, the smaller form factor however means more heat because of less ventilation, but this isn't really a problem.

My PSone is still working great years later and it get hot after hours of use just like the PSTwo. I haven't had any problems with my PSTwo, but I have started using it vertical due to the heat it produces. Figure it will get rid of the heat better that way.

Add me to the list of having a PS and a PS2 that are still working fine. I have had few problems with disk read error on the X Box.

when you flip open the lid with the eject buton, does your lid open all the way or just 1/2 the way? I just got mine and it seems like the lid hinge is not lubricated and it doesn't open all the way...
I also admit, the unit also runs pretty warm... (Using the system horizontally right now)
