Do you see the same movie more than 1x in theaters, and if so why?
With ticket prices skyrocketing these days I was wondering why people would go see the same movie twice. Once in awhile I am tempted, like recently with "Spider-Man 2", but then I would rather wait and save my anticipation for the DVD...which is good because there is more to be excited about.
So if you go more than once, why?

I go when I really really like the movie. Like Bourne Supremacy and Spider-Man 2 this past summer. Incredibles is another one I'm sure I'm going to see again.

I haven't done it in a while... Episode 1 twice. But back in the day when bills didn't get in the way I saw a few numerous times. Lion King - 7 times.
But now, with tickets so high I try and avoid it as well.

I saw Attack of the Clones a few times. Once in a regular theater and the others in a Digital screening. I was pretty blown away by the image so I had to see it again. Plus I really liked the movie when it came out and loved the atmosphere of the audience during the Yoda fight

I saw all of the LOTR movies 2-4 times because:
1. I'm a nerd and a lifelong LOTR fan who started following the making of the movies in 1998 on TORN, back before it was called TORN.
2. They're the kind of movies that needs to be seen on the big screen with 20 inch subwoofers. I love Rushmore just as much, but I don't feel the need to see it on the big screen.
3. They're excellent movies by any objective standard. Every single time I see Bernard Hill as Theoden riding up and down the Rohan line yelling "Ride now!", I get chills. Pure macho cinematic magic.
That's a pretty rare combination.

I used to see films theatrically multiple times before the "home video" market was there. Now, I save my repeat viewings for the DVD (though it's hard enough keeping up with new releases).

I saw There's Something About Mary 5 times in theaters. But that was only because there's nothing to do in my hometown, and the movie theater only has 2 or 3 movies at a time. I also saw Zoolander, Royal Tenenbaums and Napoleon Dynamite twice. I'll probably see Team America again before it leaves theaters, too.

I saw Garden State twice, would of saw it again but my theatre stopped showing it. I saw Master & Commander twice also. And I saw Troy three times, which was worth it because Warner still hasn't released the DVD yet. I'd rather see a movie I loved twice than a crappy movie once.
PS. Knowing this is the internet I figured this thread would be filled with LOTR and Star Wars.

Last two I saw twice in the theater was SW Ep 1, cause I was so amped I just knew I had missed something, and LOTR Fellowship, cause I fell asleep the first time and a friend took me to see it a second time to see what I missed.
When I was in high school, we'd see Midnight Movies over and over. The main two were Fast Times at Ridgemont High and Dawn of the Dead. But that was more of an event and a hang out.

I've seen dozens of movies more than once in the theater just because I think the movie theater is the best place to view movies, so, if I really like a movie I'll definitely see it twice.
The fastest I've seen a movie a second time was Attack of the Clones, I saw it opening night and the day after.

The only movie I saw more than once in theaters is Garden State. I absolutely love that movie. I never see the need to see a movie again especially with how fast they come to DVD.

Most repeated viewings at the movies for me are Kill Bill Vol 1 and Rocky IV, both 4x.

I saw Jurassic Park and Episode II 4 times each and Lost In Translation 3 times. I've seen a bunch of other movies over the years twice, mainly if other friends/relatives wanted to see it or it was something I particularly liked.
Things I know I saw twice:
Jurassic Park III
American Wedding
Spider-Man II
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
Star Wars: Episode I
Home Alone
Beauty and the Beast
Independence Day
Kill Bill Volume 1
Equilibrium
The Matrix Reloaded
Once Upon a Time In Mexico
The World Is Not Enough

I work for a studio. I get to see their movies free, and if it's good enough, I watch it again in outside on my time terms. DLP, THX, Arclight are always options I don't mind paying extra for.
