Good quality DVD/VCR combo units

Are there any good quality DVD/VCR combo units available? What are the pros/cons of these units?

I am currently using an older JVC vcr and a 4 year old Toshiba non-progressive scan DVD player. I have been very happy with both.

However, I recently added an Infocus 4805 projector to my system, and am trying to run signals to it and my TV at the same time. I'd like to keep to one S-video cable to the projector for the time being, so I am running everything into my Yamaha receiver and using that as a splitter. The problem is that my VCR only has composite outputs and the receiver isn't sending that signal to the s-video outputs.

Would I be better off just buying a wire that converts s-video to composite?

Thats what I would do, a new vcr likely wont make any difference in the pic quality of VHS. The adapter can be found for less than $10 that converts composite to s-video.
