3 RAY 2,463 $4,050,000 199.1% / $1,644 $30,047,000 / 8
4 SAW 2,467 $3,650,000 171.7% / $1,480 $27,951,000 / 8
5 ALFIE 2,215 $2,200,000 -- / $993 $2,200,000 / 1
6 SHALL WE DANCE 2,542 $1,700,000 160.7% / $669 $38,180,000 / 22
7 SHARK TALE 2,817 $1,200,000 120.3% / $426 $150,676,000 / 36
8 FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS 2,110 $975,000 195.3% / $462 $55,257,000 / 29
9 LADDER 49 1,670 $850,000 186.4% / $509 $68,157,000 / 36
10 TEAM AMERICA: WORLD POLICE 1,702 $600,000 85.1% / $353 $29,201,000 / 22
11 SURVIVING CHRISTMAS 1,519 $390,000 60.8% / $257 $9,395,000 / 15
12 TAXI 1,099 $340,000 124.7% / $309 $33,747,000 / 31
13 BIRTH 550 $335,000 109.4% / $609 $2,708,000 / 8

15 THE FORGOTTEN 882 $300,000 117.5% / $340 $65,405,000 / 43
16 SIDEWAYS 66 $290,000 560.4% / $4,394 $1,160,000 / 17
Incredibles made about $600,000 more than Nemo on day 1, about time Pixar got a reasonable first day.
... Man I hope that movie shatters some records. And if a single news source reports how it didn't make as much as Shrek 2 did on its first weekend, I shall have to go ballistic and hurt someone.
Ray looks set for about a 35% drop - solid - and The Grudge is holding up remarkably well, considering how many "It'll tank after halloween" comments theres been (Down about 41% for this weekend most likely)

The Incredibles, I think, will double it's Friday gross for Saturday and (maybe) Sunday. Similar to Shrek 2 back in May. That's what I hope for anyway.
I wonder how the Polar Express will hold out on Wednesday. Is the movie-going audience ready for ANOTHER CGI animated film days after a perfectly good one just came out?

The dates are completely wrong, and so is my PC Calander.
Whoops. I lack common sense on weekends.

And considering how much Paramount had paid for other crappy remakes (The Stepford Wives, $90m before advertising) and/or pointless ones (Manchurian Candidate, $80m before advertising), $60m for Alfie sounds about correct.
Awesome for the Incredibles, hope it holds up well.

Stupidest excuse yet for a movie not meeting opening weekend expectations:
"Paramount's "Alfie," a remake of a romantic comedy about a roguish womanizer starring Jude Law, opened to a dismal $6.5 million in more than 2,000 theaters, far below expectations. The tepid response was the latest blow to Sherry Lansing, the chairwoman of Paramount who last week announced her plans to leave the job when her contract expires in 2005, and whose movies have performed poorly this summer and fall.
Wayne Llewellyn, the president of distribution at Paramount, said that the conservative ethos reflected in last week's election results might have hurt the film.
"It could be the mood of the country right now," he said. "It seems to be the result of the election. Maybe they didn't want to see a guy that slept around."

Paramount just keeps on having flop after flop after flop.
Hell, at least Team America broke even when compared to it's production budget (advertising budget is another thing).

But, when films like Town and Country cost 90 million, Gigli costs 80 million, this stuff isn't completely out of the question.
Of course paramount supposedly way overstated the budget on Jude's Sky Captain, so that could be the case here.
