just placed an order. I've got the current boxset for 2 & 3, but never had any edition of 1 ( I borrowed my brothers normal edition). I heard there was a boxset coming out but then it went quiet for awhile. I hope that my name is put on the front, that while be cool.

So, just to be sure I've gotten this straight, the box contains the first 6 discs that were already available separately in the individual 2-disc sets for each movie, plus a new consolidated miniseries-type edit of the three movies combined together (I assume in chronological order, a la "The Godfather Trilogy 1901-1980")?

I got mine from dvdasian for $99.99. Josh Z is correct about the edited version. I cannot really complain about the transfers of the originals so I would like to see what they do with them this time around.

I don't think most Special Features have subtitles.... but I'm hoping this does because it'll be no good cause I won't understsand it.
Can anyone confirm?

I wouldn't hold my breath... unless asian films are released in the UK, the extras are rarely subbed.

I can't seem to find it. All I see are pics of some very pretty girls.

Also... A friend who can read Chinese tells me the Chinese page at Layoyo.com confirms subtitles on the sup. material on the box set. It could be a mistake, but I think I'm going to take a chance and order it.
Edit:
But then this Info page from the UK says no subs. Crap, I thought I had an answer.

This is a tough call for me. I love a good box set, but I already purchased the original three 2-disc sets for around $10 each, and frankly I'm not too keen on the idea of the chronological re-edit.
On the other hand, that box sure is pretty.
Aw hell, I'll probably break down and buy the damn thing...

So based on the dvddebate review....
- IA 1-3 Discs are the same as the existing releases.
Damn.... I was hoping they would fix the audio issue with part 3.
So the only reason to get this release is the chronological re-edit.
shit.
