Global Frequency cancelled before it started

This really sucks. I feel Ellis is a little overrated, but I thought this could be a great series. So that's both of Burnett's first scripted shows cancelled before they aired. Did the Contender ever start airing? With all this and the flop of The Casino, he's not having a good year.

Does the WB have some secret weapon that we don't know about? Haven't all their new shows been doing terrible in the ratings? I guess all of WB's old series will be back next year because I can't see them renewing any of their new series.

WB has become really scared of genre shows. Why does WB keep developing shows like GF, Lost in Space and Dark Shadows if they're not going to give them a chance?

As I stated in an earlier thread, if this show was half as good as the comic it was based on, it would have been the best show on tv. This is disappointing. Perhaps Showtime or HBO will pick it up.

Now I'm all for genre, but when did the remakes of Lost in Space and Dark Shadows become the hope of the genre, a scant 6 months ago everyone was bemoaning that Angel might be canceled for crap like Lost in Space and Dark Shadows.

I never saw them, maybe other did, but its becoming all to common that every show thats cancelled before it airs is the greatest attrocity (insert network name here) has every committed to some global notion of fans.

I have no idea if those shows were any good and I definitely wouldn't want Angel cancelled for them. But the fact that the WB already had a good show like Angel that was actually getting decent ratings makes you think that they would have something to replace it. And now they're just running scared from anything that might cost them more money to produce. I still don't really have a big problem with the WB. ABC and Fox cancels good shows like it's a fun little hobby. It just seems to me like the WB doesn't have much to lose right now. Some of their shows are doing worse than UPN shows. Might as well take a chance on something that already has at least some established audience.

Can't believe this show actually made me like Josh Hopkins because I pretty loathe him in whatever show he appears in, usually. I would have watched this show based on the pilot, especially because it had a good premise.

I watched this last week. Damn good show with a lot of promise.

Have all executives been replaced with monkeys throwing darts at names of shows to cancel or continue? It's a crime that this show didn't get on the air.

This could chance for GF, however - a Wired.com article states that the show has been downloaded so many times, now people are telling the WB what a boneheaded mistake they made. Good for us.

Michelle Forbes was born to play Miranda Zero.

I have to wonder if the budget was the issue with this show because the pilot had a bunch of CGI-ish effects in it, but that didn't mean all the subsequent episodes would require a lot of CGI, and thus a larger budget for a show with genre-limited appeal (according to TPTB at the WB).

I watched the Global Frequency pilot weeks ago prior to it leaking and found it completely underwhelming. Darthlurker mentioned that if the show was half as good as the comic, it would be a winner. Well, in a word, it wasn't. For what it's worth, my immediate reaction after viewing it was utter nonsurprise that it wasn't picked up. As for the, "arguably the netlet’s most promising show of the season" quote, we'll if that's an accurate assesment, I'm absolutely petrified of what there new release lineup consists of.

BTW, as it's been mentioned here, I also thought the "Robinsons: Lost In Space" pilot was horrible, although the daughter was beautiful enough that I would have sat through a few mundane episodes with little complaint.

I've seen the "Supernatural" pilot, and I would have rather have Global Frequency on the air over Supernatural, its pilot was pretty lame.

"Supernatural" I felt was a decent enough pilot. It was well shot, had some nice effects, and they obviously had some money behind it, but I don't have high hopes for the storyline over a full season. Then again, this is the WB, and it's starring Jensen Ackles, who for some reason, they feel the dire need to promote. He's already had a previous pilot which they decided to never air, and subsequently just about brought Smallville to its knees with his completely uninteresting character.
