I don't miss VHS and I won't miss vague thread titles if/when they fade away.

I totally agree with:
Eliminate all Filmmaker / Actor Filmographies
I don't need that on a DVD. Never used it and I never will.

So, the next time I press “PLAY” on my DVD remote, I’d like the movie to start immediately, like it used to on those… what were they called again, oh yeah - VIDEOTAPES!!
That rarely happened as most VIDEOTAPES went straight to TRAILERS!!

For the record, I agree with some of the points made... the overdone motion menus and the "special edition" craziness. I disagree with the one about the extras. I realize that in his position as a reviewer, I can't comment with "Nobody's making you watch all those extras" doesn't really apply, but still... different people are interested in different areas of filmmaking. The more, the merrier, I say.

As for the VHS comment:

"So, the next time I press “PLAY” on my DVD remote, I’d like the movie to start immediately, like it used to on those… what were they called again, oh yeah - VIDEOTAPES!!"
Obviously he's forgetting about the fifteen minutes of trailers before each of those tapes, which granted do appear on some DVDs as well. But it's still a far cry from the movie "start(ing) immediately".

Read some of the reviews on that site. Joblo and The Arrow are a couple of tools.

That is just what I was thinking. The article should have been about laserdiscs if anything.

The wait time on DVDs can be a bit annoying, but at worst it is usally an extra minute tops. Big deal.

Who the hell knows. Next time when starting a new thread, to make it look like it wasn't a Post =! reply thread, come up with a better title description

as for this guys article. Why must he be so down on himself? It makes me NOT want to read his stupid article when he has to explain how his mother even told him how unimportant his view is. Atleast have some self confidence and don't play the "Oh woe is me" card on this sort of thing.

Lame.

I guess this guy could stick to vhs. I totally disagree with about every point he makes. Some people are movie folks, and some like to go deeper into the production. Consumers shouldn't be punished when the "movie only" folks have issues with seemingly uninteresting content on thier dvd.

sheesh.
