Tom Savini's Chill Factor DVD?
Has anyone checked out the first installment of this horror anthology yet? I'm trying to decide if I want to drop $17 (after shipping) on a horror dvd that has a single 30 minute movie on it, along with some extras. The reviews on it are very good, but I was wondering if any DVD-Talk people have checked it out?

First off, TOM SAVIN'S CHILL FACTOR, EPISODE 1: "HOUSE CALL"
is not for everyone. I'm personally a huge fan of the man's work as an EFX artist, actor, and director. This direct-to-dvd release is produced exceptionally well. It features outstanding production value: cinematography, lighting, editing, directing (Tom Savini), acting, sound mixing, and of course EFX (Tom Savini). Now for the bad news: (1) its running time is about 22 and half minutes and is perfectly suited for commercial insertion for television broadcast. (2) The episode seems a bit long once you realize the twist. (3) The entire story is too contained for my liking and need to be expanded in its scope. I'm not going to give anything away as I do believe that fans should at least watch it, if not add it to their collection.
I'm looking forward to the future episodes, provided that they actually get produced based upon the sales of this first edition.
CHILL FACTOR is worth a spin but I caution anyone to buy it until
they've seen it first. For more information you can visit TOM SAVINI'S official website at: www.savini.com
I hope that this helps?

Thanks for the information, highdef. I went ahead and ordered it. I'd like to see how a short-story horror movie is handled without the typical mainstream editing. I'll take your "bad news" to heart though, and not get my hopes up too high.

damn, I thought they were going to put several "episodes" of each disk. As much as I love Big Tom I don't think I would pay over $10 for this. I hope Hollywood Video will have it as a rental.
