Audrey Tautou in HAPPY END
Audrey Tautou's (Amelie) HAPPY END is now available on DVD in France. The film is known in the US under the title Nowehere to Go But Up and is yet to be shown in theaters.
The world premiere of HAPPY END was last December in France. It appears that the film was shot entirely in English ...and no other but Jennifer Tilly is teaming up with Tautou

Care to give a short review of the movie itself? Amelie was the first movie I saw with Tautou, and her acting was inspired. However I haven't been as pleased with her roles in other films that she did before and after Amelie. How does Happy End compare?

I watched this movie today.. The DVD (from amazon.fr) is very good quailty, but I have to give a big thumbs down to the movie itself. I thought everything Audrey touched turned to gold, but this didn't come anywhere close. Every character in the film was annoying, right up until the anticlimax.

Finally managed to get the disc and....
This has to be one of the biggest flops in Tautou's career. Utterly "Americanized" French wanna-be comedy, or something else, this film proves that when the French try to adopt the Hollywood concept of "being entertaining"...they usually fail (see Belphegor, A Couch in New York, etc).
Skip to "Un long dimanche de fiançailles" instead.....

This movie sucked balls...I bet Audrey's cuteness works better when she speaks French...when she speaks English, her cuteness just seems annoying and crazy....Excellent NYC-location movie though - I recognized almost every single street in that movie. I vaguely remember when they were shooting the movie there at St. Marks Place...

I'll probably check this out when it hits the bargain bins, 'cause Audrey gives me wood.
