Long Way Round (w/ Ewan McGregor)
"Long Way Round" debuted on Bravo last night (10/28). Comes on at 10pm Thursday nights. GREAT looking show. Ewan and his friend Charley Boorman are riding motorcycles from London-Europe-Russia-U.S over 3 months... last night showed how they prepared to get ready. Next five episodes are their travels. Definitely worth watching. The previews show quite a lot of action (and a couple of bad looking accidents).

I didnt think this was going to be so good, but after the first episode, which, since it revolved around just preparing for the trip and not the trip itself, is the most boring episode I think this show is going to be pretty cool. I can't believe all the prep work they did. That hostile situation training was nuts! I wonder how often that will come up

I completely forgot about this show but was interested in seeing it. I know Bravo has a very liberal replay policy. Does anyone know off hand when or if they will be reairing it?

I saw Ewan talk about his trip on Jay Leno last week and it sparked my interest. Unfortunately, my cable provider does not carry Bravo. Is Bravo part of basic cable or is it a premium channel like HBO and Showtime?

I loved the look on Ewan when the guy they were staying with in the Ukraine came down the stairs with an acoustic guitar in one hand, and a machine gun in the other This show is great....Charley and Ewan are really funny and likeable. And I wanna go on a motorcycle road trip ASAP.

This show is like Amazing Race, but with the opportunity to spend more personal time with the locals.

Anyway, I researched the DVD situation on-line, and they have an official website:
http://www.longwayround.com/
And there is a PAL DVD! When someone on the Bravo message boards asked about a U.S. NTSC DVD. They replied:
"We are currently unable to confirm the US DVD release date at the moment. However, please keep checking the website for more information.
Regards,
Staff at LWR HQ"
The poster makes a great suggestion for U.S. fans of the show, which we here at DVD Talk should join in on:
"Go to their website and request the US formatted release of the DVD. Maybe if more people request it, they would speed up production... who knows."
So go and drop them a line to show your interest... starting with you, Chrisedge!

“Digital VB” has announced the U.S. release of “Long Way Round.” Finally! I
almost bought the U.K. version, too! Great thing about the U.S. release is that
it will contain never-before-released material. No word on what exactly this
unreleased footage will contain, though. Other special features will include a
photo gallery and interviews. Goldhill is the company releasing the DVD (I
never heard of them—what are their releases like, if anyone here can provide
such insight?). Release date is set for Dec. 6th of this year and the SRP is
$19.95. Finally, I can see what happened after being left on a crazy
cliffhanger, when Bravo! suddenly stopped airing the re-runs! I can’t believe
they stopped the re-runs at this key episode. Cruel!

You mean like never before seen clips on the US TV? Or never before seen at all.
the uk version on tv had the clip with the bear, and it was mia on bravo, its the one scene that stands out as missing. I'm sure there wre many more.

Big Bump!
I am currently in the middle of this series and enjoying every minute of it. I just thought I would let you know that there is another series on the way this year. I believe you can purchase the dvd from the UK on their website, but hopefully it will come to the US on Bravo again.
In May 12, 2007, Charley set out on another journey with Ewan: this time from John o' Groats in Scotland, to Cape Town, South Africa.
