What are you watching for Halloween?

It's that time of year again. Time to drag out - or buy - the spooky movies.

So, who's watching what for Halloween?

Me, I picked up an old favorite... well, favorite in I remember it scaring the crap out of me - Prince of Darkness. Been a while since I've seen it. I think it's scarier than Exorcist.

One I'd watch if I had it is American Werewolf in London. Love that flick. Truly scary, gross, funny, all in one. Will probably buy it eventually. Just need to find it at the "right price." My collection is decidely short in the horror department.

I was thinking...I should be getting my 24 and Buffy collections from Amazon by then, would Buffy make a good Halloween watcher?

I also plan on watching Star Trek The Original Series' "Catspaw" for the night.

Ju-on, Ju-on 2, Ju-on: The Grudge, Ju-on: The Grudge 2
Three.... Extreme
Ring 2, Ring 0
A Tale of Two Sisters

And if I'm still awake after one of those, and being I get distracted easily, it'll probably wind up with me sitting with the tv on static black with no lights on as I try to fall asleep.

I have made decent work of my viewing plans this year, than last year. So far this month,I have gotten a few classics watched and I was saving the onslaught for halloween weekend.

I planned to watch as many films as possible with a friend of mine. But he may have to work that weekend(though is unsure still, until he finds out his schedule). If he is busy,I will just watch a few films myself and what films I view can be anything then including the 'slow' films my friend may hate.

The tentative planned viewing with him is...

House of 1000 Corpses
Dawn of the Dead:2004: Unrated
Cannibal Holocaust
A couple of the Friday the 13th & Nightmare on Elm Street films( my friend has seen none of them!).
Suspiria:laserdisc(he may hate it,but worth a shot)
Opera(ditto)
The Rocky Horror Picture Show

also am going to try to catch Black Sunday and Twitch of the Death Nerve(if it has decent audio, unlike the badly mastered dvd!) on IFC.

So far with my hectic schedule. I was able to watch Frankenstein(1931),Psycho(1960),Halloween,The Fog,Salems Lot(original) & Basket Case 3.

I have been trying to get Bride of Frankenstein, the original & remakes of Invasion of the Body Snatchers & The Thing + Them! viewed as well.

I have most of this week off of work(finally). So I will try to get some horror movie viewing done after school.

Some good classic horror viewing can be had tomorrow night, as TCM will be airing a Universal Horror marathon, including Dracula, The Mummy, The Invisible Man, The Wolf Man, etc.

Well, I think I'm going to start out with the two Peanuts Halloween specials (along with some Zingers). Of course I'll break out my LD of Halloween (I never liked the colors on any of the DVDs), then I might go with Bride of Frankensten and the Fog and then finish out the night with Freddy v Jason.

I started my Halloween movie marathon back in September and I still won't have time to watch everything I wanted to.

I have watched:
The Crazies

Return of the Living Dead 1 & 2
Zombie (Zombi 2)

Halloween: Resurrection (OMG, how awful that was)
The Last Broadcast
Eight Legged Freaks
Hell House (interesting documentary)
Bad Taste

Here's a related question - what movie do you consider truly terrifying? I don't mean gross or sick, like your standard slasher fest, but something that makes you scared deep down, makes your mind race as you try to go to sleep, makes you want to leave the lights on....

For some reason, Prince of Darkness does that for me. And when I was younger and first saw American Werewolf in London, that freaked me out, especially the early scene where the two guys are first attacked.

I enjoy those movies very much. House of the Dead is a terrible movie, but one that remains entertaining because its terrible.
Jason X and Van Helsing, well those are just cool flicks if ya ask me!
