Should only take 4 months for GTA:SA to become a greatest hit.
If a game sells 400,000 copies in the first 4 months of release, then it will go to greatest hit the following month (for ps2).

Thanks for the post! Another weak sale for CC, I was hoping for a better one! I got a free $100 gift card by signing up for a cititbank credit card. I went with CC instead of BB, should've known that would kill the string of good sales at CC.

It's almost time to start saving for the thanksgiving weekend sales, including the potential DDD sale, I stress potential. Due to a backlog of about 40-50 movies, Ive conditioned myself to not spend over $13 for any single dvd. Most new releases drop to that level after 6 months. I mean all my dvd's are going to be worth as much as VHS as soon as these blue laser dvd's drop. Although I am pretty satisfied with dvd's and I never really got into vhs collecting(probably about 20-30 vhs as a kid/teen growing up compared to 300+ dvd's owned now in my late 20s), I dont know how much better a blue laser can be, I mean it's almost getting to the point where I need glasses so Im not going to see that date on that dime anyways, Im not going to need to count the hairs on the head of said actor. This isnt super relative to the post but just wanted to give everyone an idea or two.

I work at Best Buy and the PS2 rep tells us these things....I know it's 400,000 copies..maybe it wasn't 4 months and maybe it was 6...but I'm positive it was not 9-12 months...

$59.99 for The OC: Season 1 ? No way. I was hoping it would be around the $39.99 range. But, it's a 7-disc set.

Greatest hits is just a marketing took to sell more copies of a game when sales have died.
The guideliens started as 400,000 copies and being out at least 9 months. Then, Sony changed that to 400,000 copies and when they (Sony) and the third party developer (if there is one) agree to make the game a greatest hits title.
Selling copies and being out a period of time, does not automatically guarantee a GH title.
Marketing 101 says, if you can sell it at $49.99 2 years after release, you're not going to make it $29.99. Now, if you have a warehouse full of copies that are no longer selling, then it is time to lower the price. Why lose money you don't have to.
I;ll say it now.. San Andreas will not see GH status for 1.5 years, if then.
