Mgm Midnight Movies For $5
This is probably a big YMMV, but the local (Yuba City, CA) Wal-Mart where I shop had a big bin of MGM's Midnight Movies for $5 apiece. Titles included
The Abominable Doctor Phibes
Doctor Phibes Rises Again
Theater of Death
The Dunwich Horror
Die, Monster, Die!
Tales of Terror
Twice Told Tales
The Man with the X-Ray Eyes
Invaders from Mars (Tobe Hopper/Dan O'Banion remake)
Dr. Goldfoot and the Bikini Machine
Killer Klowns from Outer Space
and more
I checked the Wal-Mart website and the price is not reflected there. Perhaps this is a local deal, but the DVDs were in a specially made MGM/MM bin, so it looks as if this might be a nation wide promotion. This is about 2/3 off the SMLP of $14.95. So for those of you who enjoy the AIP horror films of the 1960s, here's a chance to pick up some decent titles.
Good hunting!

I also see that someone brought this up earlier, so I apologize for the duplication.

the Walmart in Rohnert Park, California was doing this deal as well.
Killer Klowns was 7.50, but I picked that up just because I have been putting it off and its a solid price.
anyone know if the midnite movie sale is just for Halloween or if it will go on for another week?

Yes, I mean out of print. There was a memo issued by MGM stating that a large list of the titles were no longer available effective immediately. All of them are single movies and not the double features.

Picked up the last one today that I was missing from the discontinued titles at Borders - Muscle Beach Party/Ski Party
Others I see listed as OOP are:
Attic / Crawlspace
Deranged / Motel Hell
What's The Matter With Helen? / Whoever Slew Auntie Roo?
Masque Of The Red Death / The Premature Burial
Oblong Box / Scream And Scream Again
Countess Dracula / The Vampire Lovers
Haunted Palace / Tower Of London
Psych-Out / The Trip
Angel Unchained / Cycle Savages
Invisible Invaders / Journey To The Seventh Planet
Cry Of The Banshee / Murders In The Rue Morgue
There's probably more.........
Also, some aren't labeled as Midnight Movies but are part of the series - Frogs, Bucket of Blood and a few others like the Beach movies. Some of those are OOP as well - Frogs & Bucket of Blood are not but the single release beach movies are.
I hope the recently released Best Buy double features hang around for a while....still need to get a few of those.

I like The Land that Time Forgot / The People That Time Forgot double feature on DVD. They are still available at Best Buy horror film section for $9.99. As far as I know only The People That Time Forgot was released as a single DVD. I'd prefer getting both movies, quite good for 70's films. By the way, they are on different side of the disc and the transfer is good. No online retailer sells this double feature DVD, so you only chance is either Best Buy B&M or Ebay.

Yes, The Land that Time Forgot / The People That Time Forgot is a must have disk. Even though I had one of them already. Both films are cut from the same cloth and I just love them
