How much could I get for my collection? Where should I sell it?

I want to get rid of my collection. Here is a listing: http://www.dvdaficionado.com/dvds.ht...DVDs&id=lint21

It's about 300 discs, almost all in original cases with artwork and in excellent condition. There are maybe 20 DVDs that I have not entered on that list.

What is a fair price? Does anyone know a good place to sell a large lot like this at once?

eBay or have a yard sale. No way to judge. Some won't pay more than .01, some $5.00, but a lot like that you would have trouble all at once, not to mention hardly a collectible sans "Dawn". Good luck!

yeah you'd be lucky in a huge lot to average $5-6 a piece.

that might be pushing it

i doubt it, my local pawn shop has their movies- all of them @ $4 each, around 300 titles, some good titles too, and 90% in good shape, @ $4, that means they're not buying for that much at all

Why are you trying to get rid of it?

Would a pawn shop actually purchase that much at once?

i've seen someone sell as many as 250 movies at one time, so i'd say yes.

this was about a year ago, and they gave the guy around $4.33 a piece on them

but since then all the pawn shops locally, sell movies for dirt cheap

All the pawn shops around me typically sell DVD's between $4-7 dollars. I doubt I'd make much selling to them. The OP should try selling to Coconuts since they use a computer to scan the UPC in order to determine what they'll pay you. The advantage is, you'll typically get paid based on the "value" of your DVD. For instance, last week I sold Coconuts Freddy vs. Jason for $7. Three months ago I sold them About Schmidt and Adaptation for $9 each. The newer it is, the more they'll pay you.

FYE, probably uses the same system since they own Coconuts, although I've never bothered selling to FYE.

The Akira Tin, the Criterions, some of the season & box sets, Help!, and Aeon Flux might fetch some money, but most of it is just standard stuff that won't get a lot.

Just toss it up on the exchange forum for cash only.

There is a lot on that list that I would buy and you will get more selling each title by themselves and to a market like dvdtalk users.

Blockbuster has a current deal that will give you at least $8 in store credit per disc. I believe you can buy Blockbuster gift cards with the store credit. You can then ebay the gift cards to get the cash.

But as always, YMMV since not all stores are participating in this promo. See the thread below for more details:

It would be a waste to sell some of those titles off for 8 bucks.

considering he could get 20+ for some of those, I still think blockbuster should be used for only those titles you can't really sell off to others. Half this guys titles are ones that anyone would be willing to spend 12-15 on.

I agree, I would set a selling price for each on an excel sheet, ones that are priced under $5 i would sell to BB the sell the GC on ebay, the others put in the exchange forum and start out with a 5-10 or so movie buy minimum so you dont have to mail out a million packages

you might have better luck selling them to your friends and coworkers. I attempted to sell some on the dvd exchange board of dvd talk; however, my integrity was questioned quite often because I wasn't a gold trader. most of the people on the forum who contacted me automatically assumed that my collection was bootleg copies. that might not be your experience, but it was mine. I did give some good deals to the few people who trusted me enough to take a chance, and as far as I know, they were not disappointed. there were also those who emailed me and practically wanted me to give my collection to them. oh well, I ended up selling about 400 DVDs to friends and coworkers for aproximately $10.00 each, and didn't have to go through the hassle of shipping them across country. good luck.
