Never listened to one but KLH is on the lower spectrum of speakers, hence the low cost.

Here is a place where you can learn a lot about speakers and perhaps find some decent deals.

$49 bucks isn't a bad price for a 10 " 100 watt sub. I wouldn't pay $129 for it.

You can always hook up two subs.

I'd save up for something better since you already have a sub to use until then.

Forgetting for a moment that this is KLH, I would not buy a sub that speced to 30hz and may not actually play that low.

I have that sub right now. I started with a HTiB and have been upgrading each piece a little at a time.

3 of us rent a house so my setup is in my room, so not sure how it would work in a larger room. It'll put out some serious bass. When I first hooked it up and threw in Lord of the Rings, one roomie was saying the floor in his room was vibrating... so had to turn it down a notch

That's a good price. Even if you don't like it, being a subwoofer, it's easy to disconnect and take back.

Maybe, maybe not. Its from Outpost and if its considered a special clearance item they may not take it back. Not sure what would happen if you live near a Fry's & try to return it. For $49 though I'd suggest just selling it if he does not like it.
