Seems kind of odd to run so many episodes days before the dvd set goes on sale.

I don't see it as odd at all. The purpose is to get people to watch it and then say, "That was so funny, I HAVE to see it again! How can I do that? Oh, I know, buy the DVD!"

plus it's not like they are showing the whole season. Get them hooked then let them know they can see the entire season simply by purchasing the DVD set.
