How are you spending your BlockBuster credit?

After trading in 54 DVDs, I now have $462.24 in BBV gift cards. I now have to figure out what BBV has that is reasonably priced for me to spend it on.

I asked to special order the monster legacy sets (creature, invisible man, mummy) and was told they were each $40.99. With Amazon asking $18.89 each with STL, it seems like such a waste to order them at BBV. I realize that their prices are higher than what I would find at Wallymart or Best Buy, but surely there has to be a few things reasonably priced.

Anybody have ideas of how to spend the trade-in credit at BlockBuster without severly overpaying?? What new titles have reasonable prices?

$40.99!? That's $10.99 more than retail. BBV really confuses me sometimes with all these misprices, good and bad.

I noticed that their prices online are semi-competative with amazon and other online retailers, for instance, the Mummy is only $21.99. I believe, however, in order to purchase online you will need to buy a giftcard with your valuecard. I'm pondering doing the same thing for Freaks and Geeks since it is $58.99 online so, even with shipping, I will save about $8 from their instore price.

I have about $75 left in credit but I probably won't buy anything until the "3 for 25" deal (or a decently priced copy of Spirited Away).

What I've done with my credit so far: 3 rentals and a late fee.

If you can be patient and not have to have new releases on release day, buy them at 2 for $20 (or 3 for $25 with a sale) when they put them on the PVD shelves 5-6 weeks after release. Just check for scratches before they scan.

I'm just going to use it during the 3 for $25 deals, and will consider the whole thing an even exchange (trade in a disc I didn't want for $8, spend $8.33 on something I do want). I buy most of my DVDs these days PVD from BB or Hollywood (preferably), so the $300+ I have in credit will probably last me for a long long time.

Where can you order from Blockbuster online? The only address I know is www.blockbuster.com, which appears to be online rental only. I would find it so convenient if I could see the prices without wasting a clerk's time to check them out for me. Thanx.

Meatpants - same here, and considering that I paid $3 at pawn shops for many of the DVDs I am trading in, I am essentially getting PVDs of recent releases for less than $4 including tax.

The only new DVD i bought from them was Casablanca for 21.99, since it runs about 20 bucks in all B&M's. Otherwise i've been looking at PVDs.

www.blockbuster.com is mainly their rental service, but you can also purchase things from there. Just search for the title you are interested in and find the info page about the movie; most titles have a "buy now" option.

Thanx!

They show the monster legacy sets I was interested in at $21.99.... go figure. A far cry from $40.99 they told me in the store.

Out of $560, i'm going spend:

$15 on the first month of the 2 out unlimited rental program.
$60 on 2 Microsoft Xbox S-controllers
$30 on Halo 2 Pre-order (after trading in 2 games for $20 off coupon).

I will sit pretty on the rest, and wait for XBox 2 or other large ticket items with good resale value.

Speaking of the Monster Legacy Collection, I bought the Dracula one in-store for $21.99. I've also bought Aladdin, Donkey Konga (GC), Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay (XBOX, PVD), Enter the Matrix (XBOX, PVD), and I'm about to use the rest of it to get an XBOX and Paper Mario 2 (GC).

What is shipping on their online store? That seems like a very good idea...

FedEx 2-Day® $7.11

UPS 2nd Day Air® $7.49

Where did you get 54 DVDs to trade in? Will they just take any old thing?

At the BB near me they had the single disc Shrek for 19.99, but also had the same single disc Shrek packaged with some 3D Shrek movie for 16.99.

Also they had the old and new Goodfellas both for 19.99. Hmmm, which one to get...

And they had both old and new Rounders for 19.99 and when they rang the new Rounders up, it was really for 15.45. What a gamble.

For absolutely no apprent reason at all, the first Scooby-Doo movie which is a single disc, was 26.99, and it was Fullscreen to boot. Meanwhile they had the Clerks X 3-discer for 24.99.

Godfather boxset can be had for a mere 81.99. And it's only 2 or 3 years after it's release where many bought it for 50 or less.

I was trying to think if BBV sell any good electronics. I know they sell video game systems and I have seen satellite systems there before, but anything else? I was thinking maybe I have seen a Tivo or Replay but Im probably just imagining them.

I traded in 9 dvds for 72 dollars, and bought Sex and the City S1 & S2 for my fiance.

They were reasonably priced $40 a season....within 5-10 dollars of other places.

Special editions. I've spent some of my card on Goodfellas, Casablanca, The Shawshank Redemption, and The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly.

I may be missing something but blockbuster.com says gift cards are only valid in-stores....
