The Arts & Faith Top 100 Spiritually Significant Films

I know this won't appeal to everyone, but i discovered some great films on this list; namely The Promise, Rosetta and The Son by Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne.

from the press release:
Although the Top 100 list was developed from a Christian perspective, the focus of the list is the spiritual depth or focus of the films involved rather than moral or commercial value. Some films will appeal to everyone, but there are also films that will challenge many viewers.

Pretty good list. Was half-hoping to see The Messenger on there, but I know opinions are rather split on that one.

It also kind of bashes religion in the end there doesn't it? From a certain point of view.

I'd know plenty of Christians who would hate this list. I remember someone who hated The Matrix because it referenced dinosaurs being millions of years old or something, and of course, that's not in the bible or something, so it's a bad movie.

Looking at the list, it's pretty clear that it's about spirituality and not religion. I expected tons of Christian films, but look at some of these films. Wild Strawberries, Amadeus, Blade Runner, Breaking The Waves, etc. These aren't films about religion. They're films about the human spirit.

Do you mean The Messenger or this list of films? If you mean the former, I actually found the movie to be incredibly inspiring and pro-faith--yet there are lots of people who find it to be anti-faith if not anti-Christianity. It's the same movie, yet people are interpreting it in opposite ways, because the movie doesn't explicitly come out on one side or the other, but lets the audience reach their own conclusions about Joan. For me, that's part of what makes the movie good.

I see that (I just have to read the topic to see that ), I'm just going off on the past where it says it was "developed from a Christian perspective" I just find it kind of sad that these are films that are spiritual, yet a lot of people of religions (I used Christianity, since I have most experiance with it, and because of that line) will write them off for one reason or another.

Yeah, I agree, see above. Looking back I wasn't very clear in my writing.
