Just bought Bowie's The Hunger...Am I the only one?

While I hardly think of it as Bowie's movie, I'm pleased that it's finally shown up on DVD. I just picked this up with BB trade-in credit, and I'm really looking forward to the commentary. The movie is more style than substance, but lots of fun.

I'm definitely looking forward to this one (Amazon should deliver mine soon)-- a long time on my wishlist for DVD release, as a major Bowie fan (though I agree Bowie is hardly in it, really). It wasn't even listed on the "what are you getting this Tuesday?" thread.
Catherine Deneuve and David Bowie are one of the greatest vampire couples ever! And that opening with Bauhaus was awesome (it would have been cool if the DVD would have included an uncut take of Bauhaus' performance as an extra).

Bowie's The Hunger? That's like saying Alec Guiness' Star Wars or Sean Astin's Lord of the Rings!
And no, you're not the only one who bought it, but you are the only one who thinks it's Bowie's film. I mean he's out of the picture after the 1st 20 minutes!

I've always loved this movie. I bought it yesterday with a bunch of other stuff, and made time to watch it all the way through. I don't particularly think it was "more style over substance". I felt it was very poetic in it's portrayal of vampyric life....stylish, yes, but the bleak blue hues and billowing drapes, the emotive music and soft-spoken voices all lent themselves well to the traditional vampire lore and made for an unsuspecting, but quite embraceable sad story. I only wish they had remasted the damn thing in 5.1 sound.

Still great fun, though.

Sure, bought it yesterday.
Uhh... Warner? What happened? Your cover art is usually perfection itself. This cover is... is... well, is your cover design department schizophrenic or something? (Bad days: The Hunger, Name of the Rose. Good days: everything else...)

Relax, dude, I only labelled it Bowie's The Hunger so there wouldn't be any confusion as to which film I was referring...geesh..

It's too bad the people involved in making the movie don't appreciate it for it's full artistic value.

I like the movie, but substantive it's not.
