I went to Miller Beer's "Rock Through Time" concert at Roseland in NYC a few weeks ago.

Ben Folds, Cheap Trick, The Strokes, and Velvet Revolver performed.

To close the show, VR, who were headlining, were joined on stage by Robin Zander and Rick Nielsen (from Cheap Trick) to perform "Surrender". It freakin rocked!

I didn't take these but HERE is a link to some awesome pictures of that night! I love the one of Scott Weiland holding Rick's 5-neck guitar.

Oh yeah - during Cheap Trick's set, Alice Cooper came out and sang "I'm Eighteen" with them.

I'm sure it did. One of my favorite concert moments was when (RIP) Joey Ramone came out to sing Surrender with Cheap Trick about 6-7 years ago. What a trip.

I heard about that! Lollapalooza 1996 in either Rockford or Chicago? That was the only date on the Lolla tour that Cheap Trick was on.

Was outside of Rockford on some dirt track. It was hotter than a mother that day. But yup that was the show.

So it's cool to like Cheap Trick again? Check out Guided By Voices' cover of Downed. You can find it on iTunes. Pretty kick ass.

Again? LOL - I've liked them for awhile. I've gone many places to see them in the US over the past 10 years, and even invited them to my wedding earlier this year (they couldn't make it, but sent a nice card!)

Not a big GBV fan, but I will definitely check out their version of "Downed" though - thanks!

LOL I do not even want to say how many times I have seen this band but it breaks 50 starting from the mid 80s.

Did you see them in Navy Pier back in August? I couldn't make the trip out there, but I know a lot of people that went. I heard the set they did was awesome (not their "standard").

No could not make that but just saw them in CT. a couple of weeks ago ( and Summerfest a couple of months ago)when I went home to visit my parents.

Heard the same about the set list at Navy Pier (CT. was your standard one) but I have seen almost everyone of their songs live.

Oh cool - I was in Norwalk too

I so wanted to go to Cali either last weekend or last night/tonight, because 2-night stands = different sets!

Did you see them in Summer 2001 when Daxx took over for Bun for a little while? Those shows to me were unbelievable.

No, saw him play at Navy Pier that year and somewhere else, not sure. Did the album shows at Metro, TF3 etc etc

Yup, I grew up in Stamford and Norwalk.

Nice to see another diehard here! I went to all 3 TF's and they were awesome. TF1 was the first time I met them. I don't think there will be another one TF though - d'oh! I wish I could have gone to the Metro shows, but I couldn't. I saw the album shows in NYC and Philly to compensate...haha.

I'm guessing that if we don't know each other, then we probably know some of the same people.

I talk to only a couple of the die hard fans. I stay away from most of the hardcore ones ... but I am sure we have crossed paths somewhere especially if you were at TF3. That was a blast...actually still have RNs setlist from the night that was all covers.

Damn talk about hijacking a thread ... sorry all

Yeah - sorry - didn't realize that!

A friend of mine (also my TF3 roommate) "introduced" the band at the covers show, and he got TP's setlist.

Yeah I'm a diehard/hardcore, I admit it! My wife isn't....yet!

Like my standard sig says - "Life is oh so much better when you're looking forward to seeing Cheap Trick"

And Buford - MORE POWER TO YA - that rules!

Was that Randy? The only one I really talk to is a guy named Mike who lives near Chicago.

I do n't know and the - fairly oft-repeated - rule here is that only legal downloads can be posted.

As it happens, this one is now dead.
