I'm thinking Rogue might not report daily numbers.

Again, I'm not sure. It just seems odd that this film, which has been hugely pushed by the geeks, would not clear over 500K on Friday.
And if it has truly bombed...well, that's just heartbreaker.
We'll find out on Sunday/Monday.

Saw Sky Captain today and it was a lot of fun; shame it's not doing better. My audience seemed to be entirely little kids and their grandparents, the elusive teens and young adults audience seem to have skipped this one entirely. Oh well.

imo, Shaun did very well - pulling in a very solid $5,367 per theater.
That makes it #2 for the weekend in terms of per theater gross. (just behind The Forgotten ($7,087), Sky Captain pulled in $2,124 per theater - making it the 3rd highest of the list)
Hopefully good word of mouth, and some slight expanding to more theaters will give it some legs, I love this movie. Started watching the series Spaced over the weekend, I'm hoping Shaun does well enough to somehow get us an NTSC release of the series.
It's too bad Sky Captain isn't holding up so well. But it's great to see so many good movies still making some cash near the bottom of that list (Bourne Supremacy, Collateral, Garden State, etc; )

Actually, down on the list, MOTORCYCLE DIARIES threw down $52,000 per screen on 3 screens this weekend. Bluntly: it was a fucking smash. I'm sorry I missed my chances to see it already.
I 12th that sentiment about SKY CAPTAIN. It was a phenomenal film that deserved a better fate than this. Talking to people about it, I get the vibe that it looked just too obtuse for some potential audiences. Funny though, the people I had to practically chloroform to get into the theater ended up loving it.
No sequel, which is a crime. But hopefully DVD will be kind to it.
Glad to see SHAUN do well, and thrilled to see FIRST DAUGHTER not do well. What a chore it was to sit through that film.

The Forgotten made more than the rest of the top 5 combined.....while I didn't think the movie was lights out, I can't argue too much against Julianne Moore opening a movie.

Impressive take for The Forgotten though. I didn't expect it to surpass $20M.

For Shaun its mostly all gravy since the movie made it's money overseas in the UK already and the DVD is out (any all region people should definetly get it, tons of cool stuff)and it looks like it might hold on until Halloween if they market it right. Suprised no one is making more news of Sky Captain bombing which i find weird because sometimes the press cant wait to harp about a movie tanking, I guess it depends on the critical reaction it receives. Looking at last weeks numbers I was also suprised to see that Princess Diaries 2 also will probably clear 100 mil soon, that's a suprise too.
