Took the plunge: Infocus 4805 on the way!

Pretty excited..been debating whether to go plasma or projector for nearly a year. Found a scratch and dent Infocus 4805 at Crutchfield for just over $1200 with full warranty and free shipping both ways (if I dont like it for reason). Picked up a screen too and it should all be here Tuesday. I'll post some pics when I get it all set up. Will be used exclusively for DVd viewing at night

PSYCHED!

I got the:

InFocus HW-MANSCR90
92" manual pulldown projection screen (which I gues is really a Draper)

Low end but I wanted something manual that I could even take off the hooks when not in use. Nice thing about Crutchfield is their no cost returns if for some reason I dont like the screen

I'm upgrading from a 36 inch Toshiba set so I am excited. Hoping it comes today

Been enjoying it WAY too much to post!!! woohoo!

what an incredible difference 92" is from my 36" inch Toshiba. Ive always had the big sound, now I have the picture. Still a few technical issues to work out but I am very happy with my purchase. I have seen a few rainbows (seems like in darker scenes) but they are so few and fast that I almost think maybe I just "thought" I saw a rainbow. bottom line: not an issue really.

anyone thinkign about it, I demo'd SO many sets, plasmas, lcd. I cant think of a way I could have spent $1200 better.

Man, am I jealous. We have no room in our 1200 square foot house, bu I'm (we're) building our "dreamhouse" right now and I can't wait to set up a projector in the basement.

I was talking to my dad about putting a projector in his basement (which is ideal for one), but he wants to wait until his HD-ready bigscreen bites the dust.

I have a Sharp LCD projector and it is my main TV and movie viewing device. I run DirecTV with Tivo through it, the 4:3 display is about 90", and it looks great. And my projector is several years old!

Now bear in mind that we only watch TV or movies for maybe 10 -15 hours a week (mainly Friday and Saturday nights). If you're like most folks and watch 3 - 6 hours of TV a day, you're going to burn through the lamp a lot faster. And at several hundred bucks each (depending on model) that's a serious consideration. You may want to have a cheap tube TV for your regular viewing and save the projector for "special events" (movies, favorite shows, etc.).

Congrats, we're picking the 4805 up at costco today for our friends wedding present. We all chipped in and are paying $100 a piece. I'm looking forward to seeing the results today when we hook it up for them. If it looks good, I'll probably go back and get one for myself...I probably would get it now, but we're going away for two days for the bachelor party this weekend, and I don't think I'd like being there with a new tv in the box all weekend.

well after setting it up and viewing it a bit, I think I'm going to have my wife pick on up tomorrow from costco on her day off. I just looked on froogle, and the costco deal (4805 wiht 76" screen) for 1399 seems like an awesome bye...

has anyone heard anything about reliabilty? costco doesn't have an extra warrenty guarantee, I'm assuming there is a year warranty on it at least...
