Will updated with US info (CD due 10/26) once I get it.

This thread is dedicated to GuessWho. From www.defleppard.com: You may have heard the rumors already, so let's come clean and give you some facts: Island/Def Jam and Universal/Mercury UK will be releasing a new Def Leppard compilation album on October 25th, titled "BEST OF DEF LEPPARD"; an updated 'replacement' version of the band's previous Greatest Hits compilation "VAULT" which was originally released in 1995. In North America, the new release will be called "SUPER VAULT".
There will be differences between various releases around the world; the North American version will have a different tracklisting than the UK/European version, and on some markets a limited edition double CD will be released, including a brand new Def Leppard version of WATERLOO SUNSET (originally recorded by The Kinks). While the tracklisting for the North American "SUPER VAULT" has not been confirmed yet, the UK/European/Japanese "BEST OF" release will feature the following tracks:

1. POUR SOME SUGAR ON ME
2. PHOTOGRAPH
3. LOVE BITES
4. LET'S GET ROCKED
5. TWO STEPS BEHIND
6. ANIMAL
7. HEAVEN IS
8. ROCKET
9. WHEN LOVE & HATE COLLIDE
10. ACTION
11. LONG, LONG WAY TO GO
12. MAKE LOVE LIKE A MAN
13. ARMAGEDDON IT
14. HAVE YOU EVER NEEDED SOMEONE SO BAD
15. ROCK OF AGES
16. HYSTERIA
17. BRINGIN' ON THE HEARTBREAK

The limited edition release contains an extra CD with the following tracks:

ROCK! ROCK! (TILL YOU DROP)
WATERLOO SUNSET
PROMISES
SLANG
FOOLIN'
NOW
ROCK BRIGADE
WOMEN
LET IT GO
TOO LATE FOR LOVE
HIGH 'N' DRY (SATURDAY NIGHT)
WORK IT OUT
BILLY'S GOT A GUN
ANOTHER HIT AND RUN
STAND UP (KICK LOVE INTO MOTION)
WASTED
DIE HARD THE HUNTER
In conjunction with the CD release, a "BEST OF DEF LEPPARD" will also be released on the same day, containing the following promo videos:
1. PHOTOGRAPH
2. ROCK OF AGES
3. FOOLIN'
4. BRINGING ON THE HEARTBREAK
(version 2 feat. Phil Collen)
5. ANIMAL
6. WOMEN
7. POUR SOME SUGAR ON ME
(USA live version)
8. ARMAGGEDON IT
9. HYSTERIA
10. LOVE BITES
11. ROCKET
12. LET'S GET ROCKED
13. MAKE LOVE LIKE A MAN
14. HEAVEN IS
15. HAVE YOU EVER NEEDED SOMEONE SO BAD
16. STAND UP
17. TONIGHT
18. I WANNA TOUCH U
19. TWO STEPS BEHIND
20. MISS YOU IN A HEARTBEAT
21. ACTION
22. WHEN LOVE & HATE COLLIDE
(edited version)
23. SLANG
24. WORK IT OUT
25. ALL I WANT IS EVERYTHING
26. PROMISES
27. GOODBYE
28. NOW
29. LONG LONG WAY TO GO
30. BONUS VIDEO: WHEN LOVE & HATE COLLIDE
(8 minute version)

"BEST OF" / "SUPER VAULT" will replace the 1995 version of "VAULT", which means it is now deleted from the band's catalogue and no more copies will be produced. "VAULT" has sold over 7 million copies worldwide.

Fact collectors, here are some of the catalogue numbers for "BEST OF":
· 1CD: 9868551
· 2CD: 9868511
· PAL (UK & Europe) DVD: 9868638
· NTSC (Japan) DVD: 9868639

More details (such as the tracklisting and release date of the North American version) will be announced as soon as they are confirmed. All information stated above is still subject to change.

Is that something to be ashamed of? I've loved this band (and their growth as songwiters) since their debut with On Through The Night. This really was a talented band. Really!

I agree, why does everyone feel the need to defend themselves when they like a certain artist?

Def Leppard is great. Looking forward to this release.

Hmm. I wonder if we can expect "Me and My Wine" to show up on this...

What's the deal with that song, anyway? I know they made a video for it, but it was either not included on the US version of "High and Dry" or deleted at some point.

It seems strange that it never showed up on the original "Vault" or "Retro Active."

High 'N' Dry was reissued in 1983 with "Me And My Wine" as a bonus cut, along with a lame remix of "Bringin' On The Heartbreak". Presumably they wanted to increase sales of the catalog while Pyromania was so huge. The bonus tracks were included on the initial release of the High 'N' Dry CD but have since been removed and are not available on current pressings. Not sure why. The old version is pretty easy to find in used bins, fortunately.

Awww, shucks.

Here's some additional info as to WHY release another best-of. This comes from the personal site of the defleppard.com webmaster; where he can say things he can't say on the official site.

http://defleppard.senff.com

...But why? Fullfilling contractual obligations? NO.
A swan song? NO.
No inspiration or song ideas? NO.

The label thinking that "LONG LONG WAY TO GO" didn't get a fair chance under the previous regime and thinks it could be a big hit? Well.....

Remember, it's not called the music BUSINESS for nothing.
