Problems with my Toshiba 4900

My not-quite-a-year-old Toshiba 4900 has started to act up in weird ways recently. Sometimes it will not let me select menu items (I get the prohibited user operations icon), sometimes it will get stuck on the FBI warnings/studio banners and never load the menu, and sometimes, after selecting an option from the menu, it doesn't actually do what I told it to do. I know that the discs are fine, and and the problems occur only intermittently, and can usually be fixed by ejecting and reinserting the disc.

Now, my apartment tends to get fairly dusty and I was wondering if such behavior could be explained by dust/dirt on the DVD player's lens, and if so, if there are cleaning solutions you can recommend.
