"I didn't change them, I finished them."

Just saw a FOX Report "G Block" story on the Star Wars DVDs. It had ol' George Lucas at some "celebrity event" whether it be an unveiling event or what, I don't know, but he said, "I was never happy with the original [theatrical] versions...only got about 25% of what I wanted....and now I was allowed to finish them...and I'm much happier now and can stand up and watch them." He also said that the [story] between the prequals and the original trilogies hasn't changed. It was always meant to be like that.

So as we all wait for Ep. III, all these "changes" or shall George say, "finishing touches", may actually make sense after we see Ep. III.

Well, I'm just happy that Lucas is the only director out there that is totally nuts.

It's a terrible attitude, because it's a work of art, not a building. You finish buildings. A work of art can never be finished, there's always something you could change.

Best simply to never go down that road.

<BG> Exactly. And, you know, she's starting to look a little DATED, so let's give her a makeover. Lose the frock, and show a little skin baby. How about a few tats...maybe a barbed wire arm band and a couple of chinese characters???

No, Robert Wise "finished" Star Trek The Motion Picture by completing the unfinished effects shots. Everything that is in the director's edition DVD looks like it belongs there.

Lucas went back and made stupid, pointless, worthless changes to his movies that stand out like sore thumbs.

There's a big difference. Wise did it right with TMP. Lucas did it wrong.

[Gump] And that's all I've got to say about that. [/Gump]

I highly doubt those changes he made has added the "75%" of the movie he couldn't do the first time around.

so how does adding luke's scream in '97 and then removing it in '04 fit into finishing it.

i guess he always had a yearning to remove a mistake he made that he never got to add in the first place, huh?

I am standing by my conviction to not purchase these.

I proudly own the LaserDisc to DVD bootlegs, yes with the audio problem on ESB, and I do'nt care.

I'd rather own them then own the schlock that's about to come out.
