John Cusack films in the 80's vs the 90's?

What do you prefer his lightweight but funny and enjoyable teen oriented 80's flicks or his more serious dramatic roles in the movies he made in the 90's-2004?

Why do we have to choose one over the other? I like both.

Agreed. Better Off Dead and One Crazy Summer are two of my favorite 80's comedies, but I think High Fidelity and Grosse Pointe Blank are his best films. Not serious dramas, by any means, but both provided good roles for him.

I like both decades of his work, but I'm still bitter about how much I hated Identity, so perhaps I should default to 80's.

I like the 80's John Cusack movies where he's having girl problems.

That's about all of em!

Well except "Stand By Me".

Grosse Pointe Blank rules, plus it's got 80's music, so it the best of both worlds!

This could've been a poll. Would've been interesting to see.

I like most of his work in the 80's, but only some of it in the 90's. Gross Point Blank was a good flick, and almost seemed to be a tribute to his 80's movies. High Fidelity seemed to be like watching one of his 80's characters all grown up now.

I've liked his dramatic roles, but personally can't stand his recent romantic comedies like Serendipity and America's Sweethearts.

BTW, where's my $2?

I like him more as a grownup as Gross Pointe Blank is one of my all time favorite comedies. He just seems better as an adult with angst instead of a teenager with angst.

1989...two words...Say Anything. The decade was certainly enhanced by that movie.

I did enjoy High Fidelity though. My vote is for the 80's.

He's one of my favorite actors, but I'd say I love him for his 80s work more than his 90s. I wish he'd take on some parts where he returns to his quirky comedic roots. He's had several good roles since then, but there have been several duds in there as well.
