Paris, Texas ----> December 14th

davisdvd.com:

Just announced from 20th Century Fox are a number of catalog titles making their DVD debuts. Due on December 14th are The Beverly Hillbillies (1993), Jack the Bear, the Jack Nicholson comedy Man Trouble, director Wim Wenders' Paris, Texas and the Gene Wilder/Richard Pryor comedy classic Silver Streak. All come with anamorphic transfers and nary an extra. Retail is a low, low $9.98 each.

Woo-Hoo!!

I was hoping for a Criterion.

If any of the titles in Fox's non-foreign catalogue are Criterion material, its (was?) Paris, Texas.

Anchor bay put out the region 2 dvd. It has commentary by wim wenders, deleted scenes, outtakes, footage from cannes, trailer, photo gallery & a 5.1 track.

I'm betting the fox disc will not have any of those features.
Too bad they couldn't work it out with anchor bay to release the dvd here...

Glad it's finally being released, in any case. I can cross another one off my dwindling list of awaited R1 releases. Actually, two - hooray for Silver Streak.

I had the opposite reaction when I read the barebone specs for the R1. I went ahead a bought the PAL Anchor Bay. It's a shame the film is not getting better treatment in the US.

I was hoping for a Criterion release of this, but the extremely low price by Fox is very nice (as long as the transfer is good) - even if it's barebones.
