Semi Urgent: Are these speaker cables??
i'll try to post pics a little later, but..
we recently moved into a house which has speaker wiring in the walls for 5.1.. there's also (2) wires running from the receiver area to another location, which the previous owner said he was going to use for outdoor speakers (which is what i want to use them for)..
however, when you look at the end of each cable, rather than having 2 inner cables (red/black), each one has 4 inner cables (red, black, white, green)...
anyone know what the deal is with these? they look like speaker cables... ?
like i said, i'll try to get pics up later, but i'd like to get these wired up for a party we're having tomorrow... thanks in advance!

Brian, correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that's paralell wiring. If so, you can use the black and red as normal. I *think* the extra wires are grounds (since the speakers are outside).

Well it is actually 4 conductor cable.
Something like this.
I ran Monster 16-4 for my theater. If you are not going to bi-wire your speakers then just twist two like pairs together!

Are the four inner wires multi-stranded as in Brian Shannon's pic above? If so, probably speaker wire.
If they are solid wire, like house "Romex" be aware that black, red, white, green is the standard 4-wire Romex for 220 Vac circuits, and be sure you know what is at other end.
