I want to know opinions about this receiver, maybe you can tell me about pros and contras. Why is a good option or why not?

And two questions more:

DD 6.1 = DD EX?

Could I enjoy DD EX and DTS ES whit this receiver?

In a word? No. It has zero component inputs, that's a problem. Only one optical input? Fughet it my friend. Upgrade to the 5740, now there's a receiver.

Let me just post some general information.

The Yamaha line HTR-XXXX is the budget line from Yamaha. Good stuff but not their best. I don't know where you plan to buy this product but the reason the price may be good is the features that you are missing.

If you can I would check this link for a comparison and try to find their RXV line somewhere close to you.

The HTR-5730 is part of Yamaha's YHT-150 Home Theater in a Box so Im looking the components of this system.

Basically Im looking for a system with DD EX and DTS ES capacities, maybe someone can help me with some recomendations.

Aside from not liking the inputs capabilities on it, I have owned Kenwoods, Sonys and Yamahas, and the sound was always superior on the Yamahas.

I've owned plenty of receivers as well, but have stuck with Yamahas for the past 8 years (DSP-A3090, DSP-RXV1). Can't beat the build and sound quality. Have to agree about the lack of inputs (especially the digitals) on the model you're looking at, though.

I suggest looking at the Yamaha RV-1400. It can be had at a reasonable price online. It has 2 component inputs, 3 optical inputs, and it has DTS-ES, DDEX, and Dolby Pro Logic IIx. I've had it for a few months and it's one bad ass machine.

I'm a big Yamaha fan too, but like everyone else is saying, you should get a receiver that has component or at the very least S-video. My receiver can do 6.1, but I never bothered to get a center rear speaker to try it out. Someday I might check it out.

I disagree completely. Componeent inputs are *NOT* a requirement or even that necessary for a receiver. Why add more obstructins to your video signal? And have to buy an extra cable? Better to hook up video connections DIRECTLY to your monitor/tv. You'll also always have the right input format for each source (hd, comp, s-vid, etc.).

All things considered, the Yammy should be fine. Component SWITCHING (not 'inputs') should not be a factor in your choice. Although the Yammy does seem a bit slim in having only 2 digital audio inputs. You might need more.

I agree that a direct connection is better, but what if you only have one set of component or S-video inputs in the back of your monitor/TV and have more than just a single DVD player to connect to it??? (eg. I have 2 DVD players and a laserdisc player connected to one TV). Sorry, but I don't want to have to keep plugging and unplugging connections.

I bought a Yamaha 2095 several years ago while in college. The sound from it was and still is amazing. Eventually I will be retiring it to the bedroom or guest room, however this is not due to the receiver failing, but for my desire for a six/seven discrete channel receiver.

The new Yamahas upconvert other signals (composite, S) to component, so yeah, if you intend on buying a Yamaha, make sure it has component ins and an out.

I also have the 2095.The thing still performs with perfection.Only wish it had more Digital inputs

Take a look at the 5760. I have that one and i like it a lot. 2 component ins, and its 7.1. It's very reasonably priced too.
