Blue grass cover of "Gin & Juice", who sings it?

A couple of years ago, I downloaded this song off of Napster. It was attributed to Barenaked Ladies, but I saw other files showing Phish, String Cheese Incident and others as the artist.
Recently, a friend of mine claimed that a no-name band from California performed the song.

Anybody have any idea who's responsible? Its a great tune, for those who haven't heard it.

It is the Gourds, who are actually one of my favorite bands. They're from Austin, TX. The "Gin & Juice" cover is on the album Shinebox, which is a collection of b-sides and live stuff. It's also got a cover of "Ziggy Stardust" on it.

Thanks. It sounds like I'll have to check them out. Is there a consensus strongest album that I should start with?

There is a live 3 cd set at emusic.com, and with the 40, 50, or 100 free track deal, you could check them out for free.

There's a thread over in Hot Deals about the offer.

all of their albums are great, but I'd start with their latest: "Cow Fish Foul or Pig" or "Stadium Blitzer."

I'd agree that all their albums are great. However, I'd start with either Ghosts of Hallelujah or Bolsa de Agua.

They're playing this year too...with a much better time slot.
