What game is this?

I remember reading about a game a few years ago (maybe more). The game had some governmental conspiracy plot, but the interesting thing was that once you bought the game you'd get clues through e-mails and faxes. I think you may have even gotten voicemails or something. I forget if it was stictly online-based or if you could purchase a CD-ROM of the game in stores. Does this ring any bells? If so, did anyone ever play it?

I just thought it was an interesting concept, but I guess it failed since I haven't heard of any other games like it since.

Majestic

I played it at launch, thought it was an interesting concept, albeit poorly implemented. The game was put on hiatus because of 9/11, at which time I lost interest and cancelled my account.

Wow - that was quick. Thanks for the answer.

I wasn't sure if there was a video game component or purely a "whodunit" where all'd you get were the clues.

As I recall, the game had a browser-based interface, and you had to do certain "tasks" to complete each "level."

I remember playing that game. It was fun for a bit but my wife really didn't enjoy the fact that the game could call you and leave messages. I didn't play it for long and had pretty much forgotten it till now.

You could turn that option off and they wouldn't call.

Tho it was fun to get one of the messages.

You had the option of having a disclaimer attached to the messages stating that it was a message from the game. There was also an in-game "voicemail" system you could use instead of your phone.

The best part was getting faxes at work. Occasionally somebody would find one and bring it over to me with a "WTF" look on their face.

I signed up for it.
Thought it was a neat concept, much like the movie "The Game"
but I never got into it.
