I listen to RUDY at least once a week. I always loved a split-second moment on the recording where you could hear him singing along with the music.
He was one of the best.

We lost one of the greatest. He had been battling cancer for quite some time and for awhile, it seemed like he had it beat. Always the workaholic, he still had various projects lined up even while he was ill.
He probably had several good years left in him had it not been for health issues. He has left behind a great body of work for future generations to enjoy and appreciate.

Wow. I just mentioned him in another thread probably not more than two days ago. He did the score for the director's cut of Ridley Scott's Legend with Tom Cruise.

Truly the master, the film music world was influenced by him probably more than any composer in the past 50 years. I will miss not being able to hear any new output, but his large library will keep me listening for years and years.

My favorite movie scores are Goldsmith scores. He's immortal for the Next Generation and movie Star Trek themes alone.
My faves of his:
Star Trek V
The Final Conflict (Omen III)

Mr. Goldsmith has composed many of my favorite scores (I am a collector of film music on CD/LP) so this is incredibly sad news for me. I will miss his genius.

Ah, man. I was just watching Star Trek: The Motion Picture last night and wishing that it had a Isolated Musical Score option so I could just put it on and drift off to sleep while listening to it. Just listening to soothing Overture was almost enough. That's really sad to wake up this morning and find out that he's gone.
