ESPN NFL 2K5 for PS2 or XBox

Assuming I'll never use XBox live but might use PS2 online (I've only got dial up )should I get ESPN NFL 2K5 for XBox or PS2?

Plus during a game, the halftime show on XBOX shows moving videos, instead of just still shots on the ps2, unless you have a hard drive for your ps2.

What are the online differences? Can you still do an online league on PS2? I ask because I have both, but my friends only have PS2.

All sports games except, apparently, NCAA 2005, which still has issues that the PS2 doesn't... sigh

Otherwise I agree with everything everyone else said. The fact that the Xbox has a hard drive and that EA is on the Live bandwagon makes the Xbox the system of choice for sports games. The only other argument against it is if you're used to the PS2 controller, especially the four shoulder buttons.

I don't have the game yet, but from the reviews I've read the Xbox version also uses the custom soundtrack feature and allows you to have your tracks play over the stadium PA at appropriate times.

I haven't done that yet, but according to the menus in the game the PS2 will allow that too.

Is the PS2 version actually in 480 resolution?
I can't find a review that says whether it is, or not.
Thanks for the info!

Okay, but you're limited to the tracks that come with the game. You can't use your own tracks from your CDs, or can you?

I overheard some kid in the local EB complaining about all the problems he was having with his Xbox version. Anyone have any idea what he is talking about?

I have the game for x-box and my friend has it for PS2.
The graphics on the PS2 version are very crappy compared to the x-box's.
You don't get to use custom music on the PS2 version, you have to use the music they give you in the game.

other than that i suck at the game, i haven't had any problems in single player.

on live, i haven't played a single game yet - but, i've seen messages like, can't validate VIP file, or can't download rosters or ESPN server is down (i think).

You will get the first message you mention until you actually play at least one online game. The latter message is indeed due to the fact that Sega took the ESPN server down for maintenance (you can still play when they do this, just can't update rosters/do some league stuff). Like you, I haven't had any problems with the Xbox version other than I'm not so good at the game.

I've always found in sports games that the PS2 versions have more responsive controls, but look nowhere near as good. Usually I go with EA games for PS2 and ESPN games for the XBox. But that's just my opinion.

That's odd. EA's sports games always look so similar on all 3 systems.

He's referring to ESPN.

GizmoDVD, you must be great at your job if you can sell a game that doesn't exist! (Gamecube ESPN)

This is because EA generally designs a game for the lowest common denominator between systems and rarely adds anything to take advantage of the added power of the Xbox when doing the port. Sega, on the other hand, designs a game from the start to take advantage of the more powerful Xbox and then whittles it down as necessary when porting to PS2/GameCube.
