Trying to disguise this movie by changing the title isn't going to work. Whatever you choose to call it it still sucks. Watch Nikita instead.

Take 1 copy of Point of No Return, light it on fire. Bury remains in yard.

Take 1 copy La Femme Nikita, insert in dvd player. Enjoy.

I enjoyed it. I did watch the origonal French version later and to me, the remake is much better. The French girl was a nutcase. The hotel scene was better in the US version as well.

Spoiler:
In the French version, she delivers the food and that is the end of it. In the US one, we find out it is a bomb, giving her more of a reason to want out of the agency.

I wasn't as adverse to it as others here, but Le Femme Nikita was much better. The scene that resinrats points out is one reason (although he sees it the other way).

I got Point as a free promo when I worked at a local video store. I use the disc as a coaster and put the insert to good use when I ran out of toilet paper that one night.

I hated it, and I especially hated that simpering, whiny-ass Dermot Mulroney.

I caught a small portion on HBO recently and enjoyed it enough that I bought the DVD for $4.88 from DDD during the sale.

I rented both and watched them back to back in vhs days and disliked Point of No Return quite a bit (never a great idea watching the remake right after the orginal).

Spoiler:
I hated how they changed the final scene so that Mulroney spoke a line that Karyo did in the orignal changing the context completely.
John Badham wasn't a good choice to direct this anyway.

The heavily P&S release left an impact on me also as it was terrible (more so than typical, if that is possible, given it was supposed to be 2.35:1).

This is playing on HBO this month so I put it on in the background since I have little desire to see it again and was reminded of what an atrocious score it had. Even if eveything else in the movie worked the score just pulls the rug out from under.

Are you even aware that this is a remake?

My preference for scores are more minimalist used to set tone, atmosphere, style, and/or subtly enhance scenes as desired and feel that this one overwhelms nearly every scene. That can be attributed to choices by Badham or trying to overcome what they had for material but I still find this to be a poor score that either distracts or manipulates.

Of course, this can be said for a number of Hollywood films that overemphasis a score rather than developing characters, mood, etc. elsewhere but even if one wants to associate the name with quality this isn't one I would use to do so.

the US version was ok, but compared to the true "La Femme Nikita" there is no comparison. The US version was almost a shot by shot remake and an inferior one at that. Absolutely no originality was brought to the US one. Couldn't they have made it a little different? Just saw the French version and it was really good. Even though I knew everything that was coming having seen the US first, I still thought it was tense and well crafted. You truly feel the turmoil of Marie through Anne Parillaud's eyes. And Jean Reno...well we know how Besson came up with "Leon"! Really good film!
