Metallica Some Kind Of Monster EP?

I did not know they were going to release a CD for this.

http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0...1.LZZZZZZZ.jpg

Those corporate whores.

This CD features the title track from the Metallica documentary Some Kind of Monster (also found on St. Anger), plus tracks recorded live on June 11, 2003, in Paris, France, during one of the three club shows performed on the hottest day in French history. A fan's dream concert, the disc features live versions of several cuts from the group's earliest days.

This is the setlist:

Some Kind Of Monster
The Four Horsemen (live)
Damage, Inc. (live)
Leper Messiah (live)
Motorbreath (live)
Ride The Lightning (live)
Hit The Lights (live)
Some Kind Of Monster (edit)

$6.99 at Best Buy.

The setlist is better than St. Anger

Leper Messiah is the shit.

The movie is supposed to be pretty good, I think I'll check that out.

I'll never buy another album from them again. They're more interesting as screwed up musicians who barely get along than they are as good artists these days.

So Metallica are finally figuring out that the fans want to hear pre-Black Album material over the new shit. Hopefully, they will remember this the next time they go into the studio.

Wow, nice set list.

Leper Messiah is indeed the shit. I'm a big fan of "The Four Horsemen" too.

I'm gonna pick it up tonight, for $6.99 the live songs are worth it. Swore i wouldnt spend another $1 on a Metallica cd after St Anger, but the old stuff should be worth it.

Just picked it up during lunch. Holy crap! The "remix" of "Some Kind Of Monster" HAS TO BE a new recording! It sounds 100% better. The drums actually sound good! And the vocals sound like they were redone too (I could be wrong on that though). Now if only the whole album of "St. Anger" had this type of treatment! That would've been an incredible album!

The live stuff sounds great too, but the drums are a little too loud.

Also liked how James messed up "Ride The Lightning". Pretty funny.

I had no idea that it had all of the old songs on it. I agree with the post about post 1990. The Black Album was stolen out of my car in 1991, and I never bothered to replace it.

But, before you rush out and spend $6.99, I saw it in my local shop today, and it is also available with a T Shirt (and maybe something else) for $19.99. At least it's an option. I've done no further research. I, myself, will pick it up for $6.99. I've never been much on black t-shirts, although the Metal Up Your Ass glow in the dark was pretty cool.

How do the old songs sound now??? I can't imagine that James' voice sounds the same? It would be like Plant trying to hit the same range as he did in Zeppelin.

The old songs sound good, but a little slower. Lars seems to have trouble keeping pace on a couple of the songs. James sings them rather than shouts them. Not that big a difference, but his voice cracks a couple times.

I like how they sound raw. Mistakes and all. Never was too fond of "Leper Messiah", but it sounds pretty intense here!

Can't really go wrong for $6.99.
