Wireless Controller for PS2??

Which wireless controller would you recommend for a PS2? I found an old thread from like december, but it seemed out of date so I figured I would just start a new one...

Easily the Logitech Wireless Precision Controller. It's awesome.
And at $39.99 it's a great deal. Ditto the Xbox version.

I just got the Logitech Cordless Action Controller and it's amazing. Here's a review:

Wow... thanks for the link BigDave... this controller sounds incredible!

Might be time to eBay my Fountech; I'm kinda sick of the frequent cut-outs and lack of response that I get from it - turns me off playing PS2 games sometimes.

According to the review, it's "a comfortable pad with perfect wireless communication and outstanding overall performance".

That's the one I have and I like it quite a bit. It's a good size too since I have bigger hands.

2 out of 3 Big Dave's agree - the Logitech Cordless Action Controller beats other wireless controllers hands down!

A couple of weeks ago, Circuit City had the Cordless Action controller on sale with their 25% off all accessories deal.

It came to $30 shipped from their website and/or instore for the same price.

I'm gonna wait for that again - since I can't even seem to find any on eBay lately...

Well, they're having 5-hr sales all next week on their website, so maybe they'll be on sale again, who knows????

Oh cool... where did you find this out?

I'm getting a little snow blinded by Circuit City bargain threads on all the gaming forums, so I probably missed it...

I felt the exact same way as you do cheapskate with the Fountech. I went back to playing PC games because the controller would crap out. I went out and got the Logitech and all my problems were solved. The battery life is great when not using the rumble feature. I may pick up a second Logitech soon so I can play some games with my friends.

Cool! That's exactly what I wanted to hear...

I thought I was the only one having problems with this thing. It was so highly praised both on these forums, and in the IGN reviews that I bought one based on these opinions alone.

Sounds like the Logitech might be the PS2 Wavebird equivalent - YES! Time to BURN MY STUPID KIDDY MARIO GAAAAAYCUBE!!!!! (I'm joking.... joking)

$35.95 at BestBuy, plus free shipping.

Link to Best Buy Logitech Cordless Action Controller

(Sorry, crappy deal I know but the best I could find)

I have this as a favorite search on eBay - but there are ZERO results right now, and only a handful of completed auctions.

I have the Fountech and been having problems with it cutting out and I'll be sitting in a chair no more than 6-7 ft from the TV and it will still cut out.

You guys are talking about how great the Logitech one is. I bought the Logitech wireless controller for the Xbox and I had issues with it cutting in and out too. I'm guessing the PS2 version uses the same technology as the Xbox version so the problems would still exist. Why is it that no one can top the Wavebird?? It's pathetic.

Is your X-Box controller the one with FOUR AA batteries, or TWO?

I thought that had all been improved with the newer, two battery version. Hopefully the cut-outs are only on the X-Box version (no offense... haha) - anyone else want to chime in on their experience with the new Logitech for the PS2 or X-Box?

no problems w/ the ps2 version - i use it pretty often (damn you culcept!)

it's odd that the xbox version would be a problem... maybe they're interfering w/ each other?

nah. I don't have my Fountech controller on when I'm using the Xbox one. One thing it might be though is I do have a cordless phone in the house. Maybe it's interfering?

Does the cordless phone have to be "in-use" to interfere? Or can it still cause problems just being plugged in, and in the same area?

No doubt someone a lot smarter than myself can answer this question.

ah, i did read about one thing - netgear and some other wireless routers don't use one channel. linksys does (you can choose which frequency). and i've read complaints that the phone systems would interfere.

actually, i'm wondering if that was what was happening w/ my wireless dropouts.

anyway, i have since picked up the linksys router and went to 5.8GHz phones.

Hmm... my logitechs (PS2 and Xbox) both work pretty well, though if you check IGN's reviews, they liked the PS2 controller better.

I have a wireless B network in my house, so I had to get rid of all my 2 GHz phones and switch to 5.8GHz, but none of the networks seem to interfere with each other. If you get a lot of interference, you can change the "channel" on the reciever.

I liked the cheaper Fountech one a lot, but did have problems with distance. No problems at all with the Logitechs, and I'm considering replacing more controllers with them, since they're really not that much more than regular controllers.

Any clue whether or not the Xbox ones are still only 39.99 at Walmart? I got one at that price when they first started appearing, and haven't seen it since... and since then, retail everywhere else seems to be 49.99...
